How do you think Celldweller and AtlasPlug has been doing?

Much of this discussion is a classic, inevitable case of “these two things (composers) are different, therefore one of them MUST be better”.

Even if I don’t think the music of season 3 is AS good (That does not mean bad) as the first 2 seasons, the music they are making for the stages in S3 is still leaps and bounds above the music in other current gen fighters, IMO of course.

Its definitely not AS good as season 1 and 2s but its not terrible and a bunch are pretty great.

That is a truth-fact.

I honestly can’t think of ANY game of any genre to come out recently that has a soundtrack comparable to this KI’s. It’s untouchable lol

This needs to appear in another post, so here it is.

I’m am so 200% with Andy here. What you are saying basically does come down to lobbying to get people fired, hardworking people who are appreciated by a lot of others, eventhough not all of them might rate them at Mick’s level. Meaning that eventhough they might not always reach the high standard Mick has set, they are still doing a great job.

Also, what would be the point, you think they would get Mick back? He left for another job, and if they hired other guys because of if, who’s to say they might not be terrible…

Ok, said my part, wanted to do it sooner, because that sentence really rubbed me the wrong way, but didnt have the time, glad Andy made my point for me (in better English too :winking_face_with_tongue:)

Just remember guys - don’t try to convey emotion with a piano

(Seriously - Tori Amos, Elton John, Steve Wonder, Lady Gaga, Kate Bush, Fionna Apple, Diamanda Galas, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Billy Joel, would all like to have a word with you)

Oooh, that reminds me how I used to listen to Tori Amos years back, loved that Little Earthquakes album

Maybe we should cheer up this thread by talking about the music we currently appreciate…

At the moment I am really appreciating the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nightwish, Muse and Poets of the Fall. I’m pretty all-round in what I like though, can appreciate a good singer-songwriter at times aswel, like Ed Sheeran or John Mayer. I’m really into feeling the music though, can appreciate good lyrics for sure, but cant remember lyrics from my favorite songs without singing along :winking_face_with_tongue: (Maybe because its usually not in my native language, or because my brain is full of holes…). Used to be a big Live (the band) fan aswell, they were my first ever concert I went to.

Edit: special mention for Mark Knopfler who’s guitar playing just always puts a smile on my face and the one musician I personally hold above all others.

I can sing a mean rendition of “White, Discussion”

Thats an awesome song, any chance for a youtube link? :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Ah - hadn’t recorded myself singing that song yet - just one I regularly work into practice LOL

I do something voice related every single day!

Are you in a band?
Tried learning the guitar myself, but learned I didnt have the discipline instead, lol

Several LOL - feel free to hit up my PMs!

But not to derail OP’s thread - so if the next character is going to be Eagle (not confirmed, but speculated), how do you think CD/AP will do up his theme? They’ve done interesting things with ethnic sounds thus far.

I was going to post here, but it’s probably not great to subvert the thread. There used to be a “what music do you listen to” off topic thread. Maybe it’s time to revive it.

I play (some) guitar (badly). The hardest part is getting started. Once you can play a few chords you can fudge your way through lots of things. Pro tip: although an acoustic guitar is not easier to play, it is a lot harder to make truly awful noises with one compared to electric. So much better for hacks like me.

I would really really like to learn to play had an elctric one and an accoustic, only an accoustic now, not much hope of ever improving above some simple childrens songs (teacher here), and even that I havent done in a while. Just to busy with life and all.

Anyways, I’ll look up that thread so people can continue complaining :winking_face_with_tongue: here.

Haha @Marbledecker
You should try reading that example I wrote again.

It not the instrument… it’s the kind of musician…
Those educated classic people are trained to play things to perfection by paper, because they’re “meant” for orchestras… if they aren’t ALL in sync it will sound horrible…
Whereas the blues guitarist is the exact opposite, because blues is all about improv jamming out your feelings

ALL instruments can be used to “create” feelings, and also orchestras creates them… it’s just the composers feelings instead of the guy with the instrument.

And I’ll repeat myself… I know it’s a very black and white example, and everything is in grayscale in this world, but it tells what is being meant so people don’t have to think crazy hard to understand what is being said.

And I’m sorry, the orchestra part of the explanation should have been there to begin with, but still… didn’t seem like you read anything but what you wanted anyway

Since you’re calling my reading comprehension into question, let’s do this:

“Technical stuff takes away the feel” is the ScrubQuote of musicians around the globe that hit a skill ceiling and use this as an excuse for their shortcoming. Nothing about you saying this makes me feel good about your viewpoints on music.

You’ve asserted that a classical pianist isn’t capable of free-jamming in a Blues session.
I’m asserting that this is a silly assertion.

Whereas you have a tremendous amount of respect for both skill sets, you are mistaken in thinking that they are mutually exclusive.

And @Draigh & @BigBadAndy
I’m not trying to get anyone fired… I’ll repeat myself for the last time… I wanna hear people’s opinions, and obviously compare to Mick, because he had their EXACT job before, so it only makes sense…

And even if it was about getting them fired… wouldn’t that also (in a VERY harsh way) make sense… just because they’re artists and opinions are different… they’re still hired people, so if someone who’s better fitted for the job is out there, it should really be them having it shouldn’t it?
And NO, I’m not talking about Mick, or anyone at all… it’s a general thing, and the way the world works

Would you hire a mechanic who’s specialized in cars to fix your motorcycle? I definitely wouldn’t

No @Marbledecker I’m not expecting them to be mutual exclusive… pretty much all musicians has a different amount of both.

I for the THIRD ■■■■■■■ TIME will say “my explanation is very black and white, and I know the world is grayscale”… how hard is it to understand?
It’s EXAGGERATION to tell a point… JESUS!!!

Edit: and you’re telling I’m bad at listening to music, because I don’t care how technical it is, but care about how it makes me feel?
Hmm… didn’t even know that was possible, but guess I’ll stop hearing music then… or start listening to the right music, anyway
