Can find good connections in lobbies. Ranked is a ■■■■■■■■ near as I can tell
Look on the Bright Side… Maybe someone will make some cool Mods for it… or who knows… They might actually “Fix” the Netcode like they did with Street Fight V
ASW’s online isn’t really “broken” in the way SFV’s was - it just uses a crappy base solution for online play (delay based netcode). ASW titles are also pretty notoriously difficult to mod well - that super cool 3D anime art style they use has typically been hard for modders to replicate and have it look good.
For reference: SFV’s terrible online experience was specifically a result of insufficient syncing of the combatants’ game clocks. If one version of the game lost a frame (which happens due to system overheating or process overload or any number of exogenous factors) the machines’ clocks would get de-synced, leading to nasty one-sided rollbacks as one machine tried to play the game without having up-to-date inputs from the opponent. Altimore’s mod just forced the machine ahead to slow down until the clocks were re-synced. This is fundamentally a different kind of issue than what you can see with delay-based titles.
Wow… Its almost as if all the usual advantages PC Gaming has over consoles just doesnt apply to ASW Games. Well… I guess thats that.
Well, yes and no. People can and do mod ASW pc ports, they just generally look super jank
Other than that the pc versions will always have better load times (which matters - GBVS has a LOT of loading on PS4), and while I don’t know if ASW titles are similar some other delay-based games like Tekken 7 do seem to have marginally better online than their console brethren. So while you’re not getting the world with your ASW pc port necessarily, there are at least a few nice QOL things that can exist.
Is there atleast Going to be Cross Platform Multiplayer ?
Not that I’m aware of. Don’t know that I’m particularly in the know though, so that may or may not mean much
Probably would have been big news if it did since thats still not a Standard Feature
This is the one where the Power Ranger stole his Team Mate’s Sandwich !!!
Lol. Seems like the modders have upped their game. That looks a lot better than the last batch I saw for DBFZ
I need to see it in motion first. Holding off judgment until I see 720p YT footage😂
Lol. That’s probably solid advice :-p
Saw someone RT’ing bikini mods on my Twitter timeline today though, so I guess the mod community has gotten motivated
Never have I been so happy for something to not age well
GBVS is a lot of fun. Online is manageable so long as can find connections 4 frames or under. Seems like that’s possible within Singapore (obviously), Japan, and Korea lobbies. I’ve heard SG to Australia also falls within that range, but haven’t tried for myself. So as long as folks keep playing on Steam I think it’ll be one of my new favorites for a while.
Really bummed that tournaments are going to be getting bodied this year; would quite enjoy competing and commentating for this game!*
Amen, Brother !!!
as for the Delay, Its extremely hard to execute anything Beyond 5 Frames or More, even using the Skill button. as for anyone whos 5 Frames or Less, Odds are that person is probably a quick Bus Ride Away for some Local Sparring.
It does indeed suck that the Offline Events have to take a Time Out until things Blow Over, I wonder if this is a Chance for the Online Warriors to Thrive… it might finally be their Year !!!
Haha. Well, Japan and Korea certainly aren’t a quick bus ride away, but yeah, the connections within Singapore are pretty much 1f to 2f of delay max. Connections in other parts of Asia can fall within the playable range, but spike randomly and can feel quite bad even if the counter says it should be playable.
Honestly I feel like Korea and Japan have better Satellites Coverage than Everyone else because it seems like Their Online Experience within their own Region Behaves More Consistently. I rarely hear Horror Stories of Extremely Laggy from someone whos just one City Away, Although I don’t Speak Korean or Japanese so if there were such a Story… How Would I even Know ?
Korea and Japan both have very good internet infrastructure generally (broadband based, not satellite). Am unsure of 4G resources, but would suspect they’re probably decent at the very least (maybe @BoJima404 could comment on the JP coverage?). 3G versus 4G isn’t super relevant here though, as games generally send very small packets of information over networks. The actual killer of your gaming experience is packet loss and network fluctuations.
As to lag horror stories, they certainly exist, though I suspect they happen on a per-capita basis less than somewhere like the US or Australia. Japan is around the size of California, which is plenty big enough to wind up with some bad connections even if there’s also lots of good ones as well.
My favorite aspect thus far has got be the single player content. The relaxing bgm means I can read through all the lore pages and not have a headache from rock or rap after 30 minutes. So much stuff to read, I was surprised at this much content and its quality.
Have not played a lot of casual matches. Maybe a handful only. I can always find ppl online which is great. Now thinking of getting the Steam version just for the English language.
Yeah 4G coverage not a problem here. But you do feel inconsistent connections in rural areas.
I got the Steam version maybe we can play some games sometime? @STORM179 I need to practice first as I’m a total casual lol
