There is a Battletoads arcade game but it’s very different and came after the NES version.
Metal Gear Survive…
What about Resident Evil 5 and DmC aka the Devil May Cry reboot as well as Metroid: Other M and Metroid: Federation Force?
Remember when Konami said that they wanted to win back our trust?
A bad time to be them.
On topic:
Sonic the Hedgehog 2006.
I was hyped for the new gen of gaming.
This was my first and only game I bought with my Xbox 360.
I don’t think I need to say anymore to tell how I felt.
Over time, I’ve grown to love the game as much as I hate it. Only level I play anyway is Wave Ocean.
Resident Evil 5 I saw coming since RE4 was such a successful hit. So that was like, “yeah this is their thing now”.
DMC… You just reminded me of something I wish I hadn’t played. That game pandered to the current generation as a result lost its serious but humoreous feel in a hack and slash playstyle and traded it for a edgy and bland narrative with a playstyle that is forgettable.
But, to be fair I lost touch with the series on the fourth installment, didn’t hit home for me.
As for Metroid, I’ve never play any.
Last one I can really remember is Volgar the Viking, but only because I was trying to perfect it. Gave up on that one. Styx: Master of Shadows was pretty annoying to complete too.
Games don’t usually make me mad, but DMC4… man…
Having been a fan of the first 3, I was pretty stoked when 4 dropped. That stretchy demon arm looked really fun. Then I played it, and realized that you only get to play with the fun new mechanic for half of the game (which was shorter than it’s predecessors anyway), before switching back to Dante (with a briefcase!) for the latter half. Worse, it backpedalled Dante’s combat to DMC2 (left out all the great new stuff from 3, specifically Royal Guard parries)… I wasn’t just disappointed. I was mad.
So, I did what rational gamers do and flipped a desk (figuratively). Turned my back on the future of the franchise, and moved on. I have not played the reboot, nor will I. However, I noticed DMC4:SE on Steam, and apparently they now include Vergil, Trish, and Lady as playables, and implemented a horde-mode of sorts, which is kinda tempting. If I could’ve just played horde-mode with the stretchy demon arm (and rev-up sword) in the first place, I don’t think I would’ve hated the base version so much.
EDIT/DISCLAIMER: I do not, nor ever have, given a ■■■■ about the DMC story, or any other Capcom-funded story, for that matter. I’m in it for the hack-n-slash gameplay, and that’s about it.
Any game with bad NetCode… namely SFV at the moment

Looks like it. I stopped after I got the Gold Skin for the Bulldog.
I never played the multiplayer. Just played a few chunks as I mostly watched my brother play through the whole campaign. The campaign was pretty cool, and definitely had some sweet “spectacle” moments.
I never played the campaign. I was just into multiplayer matches lol.
Aliens CM . I was straight robbed of $60
As far as purchases I regret? Evolve takes the cake.
At least with games like MW3, CoD Ghosts, and Advanced Warfare I got the opportunity to actually play with people, even if the gameplay wasn’t stellar. Evolve had loading times that felt like school days, barren matchmaking even days after launch, and no single player content outside of some dodgy bots. Which sucks, because I kinda liked the Beta gameplay wise (until the Wraith basically broke the game)… Apart from the “jetpacks”. Evolve managed to make jetpacks boring. That’s an accomplishment in failure.
Now as far as games that have made me rage because of in game stuff but I still usually enjoyed playing? Anything with online multiplayer. I walk a fine line between having fun with both wins and losses, and putting out enough salt to make McDonalds being an Olympic sponsor seem reasonable.
Same goes for Dark Souls. I love the combat and the harshness of those games, but sometimes it just becomes too much.
i really enjoyed the game. Just like you I was in it for the hack-n-slash. Before I got my consoles, it was the game I spent the most time on (around 240 hours). Granted it could have better, the back-tracking was a stupid idea. I spent a lot of time in Bloody Palace after completing all the difficulties, it entertained me for a long time.
You haven’t played DmC yet, I gather? Again, not a great story, but fun boss fights and an art style I quite liked. You should try it if you’re a fan of the genre. And if you want to get DMC4: SE, there’s a bundle that comes with the Definitive Edition of DmC that changes a few things and adds some difficulties.
I might get some hate for this, but Borderlands 2. I played through it with friends a couple times because there was a bit of a downtilt on fun games when the remaster came out and they absolutely raved about the game. It might just be a genre that I have zero tolerance for, but I absolutely hate almost everything about it. A couple good laughs here and there, but it’s often overshadowed by other cringe-worthy dialogue and personalities in addition to absolutely no likeable characters. On the gameplay side it’s just infuriating to me. I guess I just cannot appreciate action RPG’s as an entire genre, or I just haven’t played a well-made one or something. I hate things like WoW or anything that has loot in it and isn’t a turn-based game. I mean, I love things like Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and XCom, but for as much as I love those games, I simply HAAAAATE the exact same formula if it is action instead of turn-based. I do like Shadow Lords though, but that’s kind of different to me because it places more emphasis on the strategy than the fights themselves or the spreadsheet loot analysis.
Evolve is probably my biggest disappointment because I wanted to love it. I didn’t have any problem with the game technically, but if featured the same floaty, not great netcode as all the L4D games (which I also wanted to love but couldn’t). Even so, I played for a while but just fell off. I don’t regret the money and I hope people keep exploring cooperative focused games. But I just couldn’t get into this one in the end.
Ooooh, yeah I already forgot about that one. That game is making Konami look like the suitiest bunch of business suits who ever lost touch with their company’s market.
Oh yeah, Konami is done for. They were done when they lost Kojima and generally treated their employees like trash.
I was furious because they had the audacity to even try to make a new Metal Gear. I can’t even imagine how Kojima must be feeling about it. He can’t even talk about it otherwise it’ll probably give him legal troubles.
I don’t know if any games, per say, that have made me angry, but there are situations in games that certainly does. The one that gets my blood boiling more than anything is people using lag to win a match in KI/ Destiny. Nothing like winning a match/ crucible match, and then all of the sudden magic lag occurs and the other party becomes unbeatable.
