As for your second question, if there is a season 4 I’d prefer there to be no new characters since we already have enough. I’d rather see season 4 focus on adding other content like ultimates, stage ultras, costumes/accessories, modes, and maybe they can add the stages everyone has been clamoring for for months now.
That’s totally understandable for brand new stages, but as I mentioned earlier, what about alternate or modified versions of existing stages? I just want each character to have a “home” stage of their own that you can simply select and get their music. The music selection feature is a good concession, but is not terribly convenient in practice. It feels like the awesome new tracks are nonexistent.
I’d be happy with a night/moonlight version of Maya’s stage to be Mira’s home stage so you can choose it quickly and it’s different and has her music by default. Similar stuff for the others. Maybe Eyedol’s is Kan-Ra’s but with some different colored lighting or some background items knocked over or broken to play off the story element of him being resurrected by Kan-Ra.
I’d be fine if Raam just got Arbiter’s stage without all the Halo characters and activity and different lighting.
Is something like that viable as a community fund since it’s modifying existing assets like how Shago was?
I don’t think I’ve seen the devs ever comment on the viability if this idea. @TempusChaoti ?
Not a fan of the “demand” of new Stages, I’m fine with what we have.
But if they want to do some “cheap” ones, some examples:
Raam: Take Sadira stage. Change Sadira’s assassins for Locust, change the Throne for The Queen watching the fight in her throne, change the giant spider for a Corpser
Rash: Astral plane. Put some spaceships with Battletoads enemies, Pimple and Zitz fighting in the background.
Eyedol: Cinder’s stage. Quit all the Ultratech stuff. Leave it as a volcano, maybe with something similar to a throne and sculptures of Eyedol and Eyedol’s retro. Potential Stage Ultra: being throw to the Lava
Mira: Sabrewulf stage. Change the “laboratory” stuff for a dinner table, with multiple Vampires taking blood from glasses. Alternatively, there can be no vampires, with recycled pcs from Orchid’s stage, looking as an Intel room for the Coven, with pictures and sculptures of other vampires. Maybe with Wendigos and Porfiry walking around
If this is seriously the bench mark, then reaching the community goal should not be a problem. All it takes is two shago fundraisers for everyone to get their own stage? We met the shago quota in what? a day? Under a week for sure. Make the community fund last 3 weeks and there’s your new stage money.
I’d like to direct you to the very first sentence of the quote that says “To create one new stage would require a community fund multiple times larger than what we did with creating Shadow Jago.” There’s no reason to believe we only need to raise 2 times more than the Shago community fund. A community fund for 1 stage could be 3, 4, or maybe even higher than that.
Also, let’s not act like we know the inner workings of getting a community fund up and running. Remember how the Shago community fund worked? I doubt it’s as easy as just one day IG/MS decide that all money spent on KI will go into a fund to make a stage. I’m sure MS would have to figure out how they can make something like this profitable because they’re not just gonna let hundreds of thousands of dollars go into making a stage for KI and not make any profit from it.
Don’t forget we met the Shago quota very fast because we had an incentive to spend money: the Shago skin which would then become real boy Shago. If they decide to do a community fund for a stage that’s multiple times larger than Shago’s then we’re going to need another incentive to spend that much money.
I’m not trying to tear down the idea of community funding a stage, if it could happen I’d be on board too. However, let’s not continue to mindlessly ask for something that I’m sure they know we want, but we lack the understanding of how such a thing would work.
While I want all of that stuff, not having any new characters at all? At that point,it might as well be a DLC pack.
Personally, I’d love some DLC packs, but I’m guessing if they were able to do that from a logistical standpoint, they would, as the demand seems to be there.
But I’d still love to see at least a few characters. I’d love to see Eagle, the KI Gold master / Sage, afew of those cool sounding IG ideas from the survey like a djinn and a lovecraftian character. Also hoping for a bonus character like Ben Farris or Human Sabrewulf.
So while I don’t need nine characters, I love IGs designs, so at least five or six would be awesome. I also don’t need new modes. Expand Shadow Lords with new season 4 content and use the rest of the budget on stages, ultimates, more colors and accessories for everyone, and undertaking a stage relighting level project that upgrades faces, hair, odd textures and retros for any character that needs it. Some menu upgrades and optimization would be great as well. A new, sleeker “fight on” screen and character art slides during the Checking DLC Screen.
Lastly, and I’ve said this before, but for the Ultra Pack, if love it if they let us choose classic KI and KI2 stage for them to update for this game along with their own third choice. You put those in plus some KI Gold and gold/platinum Gargos.
I guess Dinosaurs are reptiles. I meant that we should have a character similar to Reptile. So “Reptile-like” would have been more apt.
Edit: ‘A better answer would be ‘in the middle.’ By examining animal growth and rates of energy use, we were able to reconstruct a metabolic continuum, and place dinosaurs along that continuum. Somewhat surprisingly, dinosaurs fell right in the middle,’ Grady said when asked if Dinosaurs were Warm-blooded mammals or Cold-blooded Reptiles.
What we lose if they do a Community Fund and Fail to reach goals- Nothing, as far as I can tell, unless they take the money in advance and don’t refund.
What we lose if they decide not to do one at all- The possible chance to fund new stages and show our support for this game, along with giving the crew a little more money.
Only reason I would say no to Buck Is that if they do put him in he probably wouldn’t have Nathan fillion as his voice actor which to me would make him an entirely different character especially since the characters face is modeled to be his. Imo I think they should put a brute chieftain or brute commander like atriox or the other one from Halo Wars.
I would prefer not more guests, but I can live with one or two more
But what I don’t want is two guests of the same franchise
No more Halo guests(Master Chief, Brutes, Buck, whatever)
No more Gears guests(Skorge, Marcus, whatever)
No more Battletoads(Pimple, Zitz, whatever)
Seriously, if I’m a random twitch spectator, and I watch a stream between Arbiter and Buck/Brute/Master chief in Arbiter’s stage, I would not know that I’m looking at Killer Instinct instead a weird DLC for Halo
This, completely this. When I saw Halo Brute on the survey I just kinda rolled my eyes; I’m almost assured it was the lowest voted character in the list. The only one I see requested is Skorge, and people ask more for him to replace RAAM rather than be alongside him.
Joanna is the only one I really really want, I want Conker as a joke character cuz when was the last time we legitimately got one in a fighting game?
