I guess I don’t understand what the issue is with the character, and why he can’t be reimagined.
The issues were that we was Harryhausen-esque, had two moves, and was cheap.
That seems like an excuse rather than there being an inherent limitation to what they could do with him. I really don’t see these being dealbreakers in designing/reimagining him, given the creativity they have shown with other characters. I would be confident that they could make a good character out of the concept. I feel like it’s more that they just don’t like the character in general and/or had better ideas.
Maybe it really would be too hard to work with, but I have a hard time buying it at face value (which is essentially a compliment on the great job they have done with others).
This isn’t really on topic but, what does “shoehorned” mean?
I don’t think this interview really swayed his confirmation one way or the other honestly. I really hope he’s in it though, even if it’s just as an unplayable secret boss or something.
I think Aganos is pretty much KIs redesign if you think about it with his club and grotesque height.
I’m willing to bet more than Money that he won’t be in Season 3. Gargos IS definitely in though, there is nothing Adam or someone at MS could convince me otherwise.
I honestly used to think MS/Isgreen couldn’t think of gameplay mechanics for Eyedol but the more I hear from them the more I believe it’s his design that’s the problem. Isgreen mentioned Harryhausen when talking about Eyedol, Spinal was basically the skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts etc.
Even so Spinal was redesigned beautifully for KI so I honestly don’t see why the same cannot be done with Eyedol. He has two heads, for me you could do a Gen style character with each head representing a style of gameplay. Then you could switch these styles during combos his unique trait, then instinct mode is both heads work together etc.
His club could be mythical? Maybe it absorbs the essence of the warriors he has fought.
Each head/style could have its own health bar
There are so many possibilities I simply refuse to believe they can’t think of anything, and I cater more towards they simply don’t like him
I think if MS does bring him back, I think he’d be better off as a regular character but not as a boss because I personally feel that he’s too hard for me to take seriously as a boss but as a character in the KI universe would sound better to me.
Haha. All idioms are odd from the outside looking in. Google idioms or proverbs in [insert culture] and you’ll wind up with some very unique phrases. Without some cultural context, most of them will make no sense.
I assure you that youd struggle NOT to take anyone serious compared to Rash lol.
Weve a modern game which features a cybernetic dinosaur fighting a native indian and a golem fighting an undead pirate, he wont look out of place once you see his (eventual) revamp.
Why isn’t Eyedol even eligible for a community funding but something like shadow Orchid is (when nobody has asked for anything like her in the first place, is a candidate) while Eyedol himself has many fans ?
They can slap a pair of legs and wings to a shadow meter bar (Omen) and make him fun to play. Yet a two headed cyclops warlord is somehow “a riddle”?
I think there was a lesson to be learned with the Shago fiasco: The community did not let go of him even after being told actively and passively that he was not going to become a full character. We kept asking about him till he turned into a real boy.
The same will be true for Eyedol: You can release Tusk, Kim, Master Chief, Shadow Master Chief, and we will still be asking about Eyedol, Eyedol, Eyedol.
So there’s the chance to do it right the first time, or to have to include him later as a gift, DLC, community funding, guest… One way or another Eyedol will be the elephant in the room till something is done about him.
