Kameo wasn’t even a bad idea.

What is that from?

Here is his origin story if you don’t want to play the Halo games. The beginning pretty much explains who he is. The Arbitor is a warrior of the Coveneant who are sent into impossible missions that usually involve an arbiter dying. This Arbitor, the one in KI, is the one who was punished to be the Arbitor because in Halo 1, he failed to protect the Halo from being destroyed by the Master Chief.

Old renders from a canceled game. There are new ones up in which it’s a darker design.

Unused assets from an unreleased game doesn’t make her obscure origin any less unappealing for a modern fighting game. I guarantee 90% of the new players would just think she’s some random woman, not a heavily redesigned character from an old Nintendo 64 game. It doesn’t matter how cool she could have looked, given the situation she’s a bad choice for a guest.

I could pick a dozen cool characters from random games that I think would totally fit in KI but if they’re not relevant, they’re not a good pick. Guest characters are supposed to popular enough to draw in a crowd from the source material’s fanbase to bolster the ranks of the game they are appearing in. There aren’t legions of Kameo fans who would pick up a fighter because that character they played in that one game is in it.

Characters like Alien & Predator, Jason and Freddy or Leather face in MK draw in fans of those movie licenses. Adding in some obscure character like the guy from that old Psycho movie wouldn’t get anyone’s attention, sure he might be a badass but that doesn’t make him a smart choice. Adding a popular character such as Agent Smith from the Matrix or an equally popular character from a one time box office hit would be however.

Rash works because he’s a fan favorite, everyone knows Battletoads. The Arbiter works because he’s one of the best characters in one of the biggest titles on the Xbox. Kameo however isn’t a massive name that is going to pull in fans from any fanbase to Killer instinct. She might make a great character in general but you have to look at it from the promotional value a guest character represents, Kameo just doesn’t provide that appeal.

You forget that most KI characters were nobodies to most people including myself a couple of years back. But yes, I agree, guest characters only serve a purpose to attract new people into playing the game. Spawn fits that perfectly to be honest but I don’t think MS would want to go out to a third party for licensing even though a ton of comic book fans would pick up KI just for him. It would have been better to have the Master Chief as a guest character in terms of popularity but I guess the people at IG/MS wanted to diversify their characters.

I wonder who the last guest character will be.

I collect Grunts. >__<

I spent a lot of time trying to fit a fuel rod cannon into Shago’s hand but I didn’t want to force it.

I once bought an elite figure to get a fuel rod cannon prop for my grunts, really hoping they do a Halo 5 Grunt they’re super creepy looking now. Shago’s going to have his work cut out for him.

Hopefully there’s a random talking grunt in the background of the arbiter’s stage.

Not feeling your argument. KI got by fine with NO guest pulling power before and its hard how you can readily grasp Rash as a “fan fave” as his fans are all my age (some of the biggest streamers of KI were NOT impressed that he was added at time of reveal)
the newest KI fans who were not around for that era aint hyped for Rash (arbiter is aimed at those). If Rash was just revealed youd be using same argument vs him as Kameo - hes there as KI is a love letter to all fans, heck its in a genre competing against other legacy heavyweights like SF or MK but Microsoft revived KI anyway as they dont HAVE to be AAA guests to feature (Rash). As such if he can make it so can a Joanna Dark or a Kameo and they ALL merit a place as long as theyre fun to play.

Marcus Fenix would get more players on board but id rather have Eyedol a character who would entice no one not already a KI fan. Thankfully IG are NOT going all AAA status on us with guests - we even got Arbiter instead of Master Chief himself etc.

Well I think this is kinda cool. The Arbiter is defiantly the best choice, and I think it’s a pretty big deal for KI that Microsoft are using Halo to help promote the game.

But I’m curious, if the Arbiter is going to have his own stage, what about Rash getting a stage?
