I’m thinking of making a series like this where I play a game on stream blind, have it be a pleasant surprise and see if I can get people to give them a try! (I could always shut this down if you guys find that the off topic section gets a bit flooded with these at any point).
First up is ICEY, a game available on Steam available for $11 and comes with the soundtrack for free! Has controller support. This is a 2D beat-em-up action game with a meta theme (think Undertale). Will you blindly follow the narrator’s instructions (only in Chinese with Eng. subtitles, though English voices are coming in future updates) or will you have a laugh seeing how much you can ■■■■ him off and find the many hidden routes/endings/bosses? The choice is yours…whoever you are.
It’s recommended you try not to spoil yourself going into the game, but here’s my first time playing it! I had a blast with the humor and the intense combat.
EDIT: BTW, this game took almost a decade to make. The game even makes fun of its development within the game. So respectable.
Now does ICEY, the main character AND protagonist of the game, bear a strong resemblance to and at the same time remind you of Hatsune Miku by any chance?
I’ve already gotten all the achievements (did it in a weekend, though I did use an achievement guide cause I suck lol) so if you guys needs tips I’m here.
Funnily enough I’m not really an achievements guy, but I felt like I’d be missing out on this game’s full experience if I didn’t go for all of them.
I do feel achievements can enhance a game, having them in KI for example encourages me to try other characters…
Though I really am not a fan anymore, most of the time they are used to artificially inflate gametime, they used to put extra content after going through certain motions or stuff like that.
I am really glad I could let go of the ‘get achievements’ mindset, a friend if mine still HAS to 100% a game before he can move on to the next. He wont even try certain new games in fear he might get an early achievement in a game he ‘might’ not like and then feels compulsed to finish
So I really hope the Nintend Switch doesnt come up with its own set of achievements…
More on topic: the game looks fun, wish I gamed on pc. Wouldnt mind seeing you do more of these.
