The OP actually has a good point. Default accessories on other characters change color depending on the scheme. That has always been the benefit of defaults.
For example, Jago’s default knee armor is the only one of his knee accessories which changes colors to match the scheme.
Hisako’s default spear will change to match colors. Etc.
Non-default options are the ones that are static, pre-determined colors.
Kim Wu’s jacket not changing appears to be an oversight. I hope they fix it.

I hope the jacket issue is an oversight.
The supposed “butt floss” was removed from her and Orchid for unstated reasons, but let’s just say one of the reasons was based on the practicality of the outfit. Okay, so how does one justify applying bridal clothing over top a martial arts uniform?
i think the “butt floss” removal was likely to match the character’s persona. Sadira is an assassin, one who lures in her prey she has to be sexually appealing to who ever she plans to catch in her web which I assume most of her and her tribes’ victims are men. Kim and Orchid on the other hand are more respectable “good gals” ones with specific driven purposes, the butt floss would contradict their new personas imho.
on the subject of the retros I honestly can’t pinpoint the reasoning behind silly things like bridal clothing/chainmail/etc over her gi or Orchids painted on one piece. I kind of wish they would be more consistent with the balance of silly and bad ■■■ accessories for these retros, Riptor for example has a nice balance. the Cheerleader outfit is hilarious and doesn’t detract from the other more cool accessories.
Kim Wu overall feels less inspired in the costumes/accessories department, not so much in the selection of accessories but more so in it’s execution.

easy…she has full range of her hands and feet the skirt is small and only on the back and not the front. all things considered its like kim wu took a “bridal” costume and completely changed it in a way that is battle practicality. like one of those asian chinese kun fu movies where the badass girl is forced to be married to the evil bad guy and she rips her wedding yukata/dress or something and kicks his butt herself

I actually like that comparison, didn’t think of that haha!
Right. That would be more believable if the actual dress disguised the uniform, but it doesn’t. And how would one explain the fitness set? It looks so tacky overlapping the top. Honestly, it’s just the torso area of these that are ridiculous. But the scalemail set doesn’t look so bad.

I came to reason in the same way with your first paragraph months ago as well. And agree with the rest. But in reference to the overall characterization, Orchids “retro” is supposed to be 90s cheese representing the “sexy spy” trope. Think Aeon Flux for example. So the original idea still would fit because the purpose of the retros are to represent a previous era.
Back on topic though, the inconsistencies are glaring. I have a feeling that ironically Tusk’s accessories might be more well thought out. Even though this is all subjective.
