Who on the forums knows about KI's offline tournaments?

I was out of town this weekend, but couldn’t wait to check out the offline tournament action at NEC as soon as I got back home. KI got me on twitter, so I knew about KI’s presence at NEC from folks I follow on twitter. I’m also on some of the facebook KI groups, so I hear folks talking about it there, too. However, I got to thinking, here on the forums we have almost 4,000 users (3,890), when I typed in NEC in the forum search, I got nothing relevant - which leads me to this post. I’m a bit saddened/upset/disappointed … but this was definitely one of the most STACKED tournaments in a while … so for it not to (at least appear to be) on the official KI forum maybe shouldn’t be the case in the future.

  1. Who on the forums even knows about KI’s offline tournaments?
(when/where they happen if you want to register and participate, where to catch the live stream if you want to watch and support?)

  2. @moderators How would you feel about pinning information about the “the next upcoming offline tournament(s)” in the tournament section of the forums?
(maybe the next 2 or 3 offlines that have KI)

  3. @moderators or @developers How would you feel about doing a post on the news section of ultra-combo.com site?
(maybe under the events section, like you all did with Kombo Klash NL, and Kombo Klash SA)

I feel if we, either the community, devs, and/or moderators, inform the people here on the forums, our offline tournament viewership and offline tournament participation might increase! … which is good!

For those that don’t know, the next offline KI tournaments are:
Kumite in Tennesee, Jan 6-8th, Franklin, TN (outside of Nashville) - http://kitrevival.com/
AND
Frosty Faustings, Jan 27-28th, Elmhurst, IL (outside of Chicago) - http://frostyfaustings.com/games/

If you find any upcoming tournaments, post them in the Tournaments sub-forum. If you haven’t found news on something here, spread the news on it so we can find out.

You forgot…

  1. Post about tournaments in the announcements section of the game itself

Makes sense. Will do.

I guess I should’ve mentioned, particularly with dev support, more tournaments (offline and online, but particularly offline) could 1) get that official front page support on the official site  and 2) notify all players in the game itself!

exactly!

I do agree that it’d be nice to have more posts about when tournaments are going down, by the devs or otherwise. I’ve been kinda out of the loop as to when tourneys are going down, and I think regular updates from competitors or site moderators would be helpful in that regard.

That being said, the best way to fix something is to be the change you want to see. So start posting and getting discussions going about tournaments, and other people will be much more likely to do the same!

Glad you agree. I’m with ya as well on being the change! Done!

Anything you want anyone to see, you need to post in General Discussion. It makes sense why they have a Tournament subsection, but nobody checks it.

I would definitely think it’s a good idea to make posts about every major tournament (both offline and online) every week. Do a recap, link to VODs/youtube of the event, etc. I’m sure the community would enjoy doing this, although it does seem like something the community manager could be doing?

Anyway, more attention given to tournaments would be great.

I agree with posting here. I had no idea that NEC17 was last night and it would have been nice to have streamed it.

There used to be a site When’s KI that used to be a hub for all of the tournaments but it seems to have stopped being updated some time ago.

It would be great if someone would volunteer to post the info or find the info and post for everyone. it would be no easy task… but it would be a nice thing to have available.

I had to ask on the FB page what the time was. I got the link from here on the GG thread.

Another grat piece of info would be the standings of the tournament. Who placed where, what the payout was, ect…
