What do you make of Aria winning?

Is Arbiter just too difficult to use in high level play now? I came from Halo and wanted to see him in tournamnets more.

Who is better Arbiter or Khan Ra?

^^^^^^

I really need to think we need to stop with the “ARIA won KIWC” stuff. If Nicky wins it’s not “Fulgore won KIWC” and “Hisako” didn’t get second place. The players play the game.

Given, generally, how tight the characters are, i dont really see much surprise in most any character winning. Maybe its more in the players for me…

More or less, KIWC showed that students of the game had their knowledge rewarded. Be they character specialists or players that could play multiple ones. It really wasn’t where a character’s strengths or degeneracy carried a player, and there were multiple examples of that. Letalis’ Aganos going and beating Kilgore, Storm’s perfect(s), ITA Master’s surprisingly short run with Thunder.

And for the record, im no dev, but there’s no real reason to nerf ARIA from what I’ve played and witnessed.

I believe arbiter is the worst character currently Reasons:

14 or 12 frame anti air which sucks lol(don’t quote) pretty sure im right on the frames.

Damage output is too low imo.

He can not truly opening you up without taking calculated risk but still wont get great reward if you do so.

*He has a super slow reactable command grab which only does 5% normally.

If you spend shadow meter it will still do 5% lol.(should definitely do more 10~15% at least since you dont get a follow up)

He has one low that does not combo into anything really.

  • He does not have a reserval making him defenseless and extremely weak on knockdown. Btw this game has some crazy vortex characters.

(Shadow shield got nerf it’s very punishable.
Grenade Kamikaze is extremely risky because you are subjected to get full punished adding on the kamikaze hit.

*Something that truly bugs me, is his only shadow (projectile invulnerable move) is not that great. Truly believe its because he has a huge hitbox causing him too get clipped in the back of the head by most projectiles in the game. Which also sucks!!

Again, to reiterate what a lot of others are saying; Just about every character hass the potential to be something great. We still have the top teir characters like Fulgore who have a clear advantage aginst most of the cast and make it much easierwhen learning MU’s.
Which brings me to my second point:
Matchup’s. Every character has a few good MU’s and a few bad MU’s. Statistically, when you have a favorable matchup and there are 2 highly skills players, the player with a favorable MU’s will win. There are, in fact, instances where the player with the unfavorable MU has more skill and pullsin the victory through own personal skill and potential. This can also great situation where ther thr more skilled player also had had favorable MU, making the odds stack entirely in their favor.
Now Sleep and Storm are both Amazing players, but the General consensus seems to agree that Sleep has more skill. With Sleep being the skilled player, and having a favorable MU, Statistically, he was bound to come out on top.
And this is where tournament play comes into, well, play.
When 2 equally skilled players play, for example, an even MU, the match can turn out either way. When the player that lost sees the rematch screen, he’s given the option to counterpick his opponent. Storm was given the option to Counterpick Sleep’s Aria, but never took it because of.. well, I can’t answer that because I’m not in his head.
Long story short:
aka
TL;DR
Just because Sleep used Aria most I the tournament doesn’t mean she’s op, it was player skill and MU’s and knowledge.

Yeah I remember as well Keits saying that ARIA was the strongest on paper, so to speak, in the game.

Sleep brought up a good point in counteracting what seems to be the Nerfinators’ itchy trigger fingesr- keep the characters under the radar. I’m just a lowly low-gold ranked player but it’s aggravating to see them nerf characters who win tournaments. Hopefully the strategy of having characters show up half or a third of the tournament and taking opponents to 5 rounds (is sleep holding back his true power?!) will stop the nerfing madness.
