No, if anything put this on the TOs. But also show some maturity, waiting is annoying but not the end of the world.
Naw, F maturity today.
KI never gets respect.
kinda bad … hope it didn’t affect the top 8 pre-game hype too much
IMO would’ve preferred just continue the smash on Sunday
but every human makes mistakes … not on the level of big EVO planning … but we are who we are
Targetting the blame on the wrong people.
You can’t blame the game. Blame the TO’s that thought half the set ups for Smash 4 should be for friendlies and not pools.
So what if there was a wait. Delays can happen in numerous way. Just calm down, nothing to get antsy about. I bet no one had anything planned to do immediately after?
And Smash 4 is fantastic.
There is no excuse for the long wait.
The Pokken matches were SO LONG and SO UN-HYPE, that even the crowd and the competitors got bored. They barely clapped, they barely stood up, and the 2 GRAND FINALISTS were yucking it up and not taking the match seriously.
After 2 games, the winner is always clear. Having 2 Best of 5 sets is ridiculous. Pokken needs to stay Best-Of-Three the entire time. No Best-of-five. And there should be a shorter time limit if possible.
(And this is coming from someone who enjoys watching Pokken… Someone who watched the entire top 8 and was genuinely interested. )
Like I always say, when in doubt…blame smash.
Did you get a stream viewcount?
Why? That would mean nothing. And even the people in the stream, and the commentators were making comments about how long the sets were.
Of course it means something. Viewcount = interested people.
But that aside, it’s the first time Pokken was at EVO, maybe it’ll change next year.
Umm, no. Are you new to streaming?
Every video game stream EVER has a large group of people saying: this game sucks. , whens the next game? , Im just here for the next game.
And the idea that every viewer is interested (or more importantly, ENTERTAINED) is ridiculous.
If the whole espn thing goes through and this becomes the new thing…these delays will cause backlash like they do now. But even worse.
They better do something or else…they might not see any more tournies.
I won’t lie. I was pretty annoyed at first.
But, I wouldn’t have gotten a chance to see Pokken otherwise. I’m not going to pick the game up by any means, but seeing some hype matches made me appreciate the variety at EVO. Pretty cool if you ask me.
Yeah, Pokken had as many or more viewers than KI. So while view count isn’t everything it suggests that “everyone was bored” is not accurate.
I actually like Pokken, although I have zero interest in watching tournament play. I think, though, it’s sort of silly to blame the games or their communities. It very clearly falls to the TOs. I don’t think we need to storm the castle with our pitchforks, but we aren’t talking slight delays here. If you only program 2/3 of the amount of required time for a game this is going to happen. They are trying to cram too much into the space.
It certainly is inconvenient for people who planned their time around the schedule to watch the stream. I also think that, if they really want these productions to be taken seriously they can’t run them like amateur hour when it comes to scheduling. They don’t start the super bowl two hours late because an episode of the Simpsons ran two hours over earlier in the day. I know that sounds harsh, and I have zero TO experience. It’s easy to be critical and hard to do stuff well, and I’m sure organizing EVO is a logistical nightmare. But frankly, they need to do better if they want the event to be taken more seriously. Advertisers and sponsors don’t want 25 thousand fans to go to bed because the game they are waiting for is delayed two hours.
Pokken had about the same viewers as KI.
I bet KI would’ve had more if grand finals didn’t start at 1:00 am EST.
And blaming the wrong people while acting immature will get people to respect us?
Look, it was annoying (actually, I didn’t mind. My brother-in-law was watching crappy horror movies so I had that to pass the time). But it’s the TO’s fault and, as much as I hate to say it, it isn’t really a phenomenon or rare occurrence for tournaments to run late.
EVO just comes off as amateurish when it runs 3 hours late! Its suppose to be the biggest stage yet it constantly has issues.
Oh, I’m not disagreeing with you at all on that front. Just that tourneys running late isn’t an unexpected thing is what I meant.
