Unable to join lobby

I just got a friend to download this game. I added him as a friend through the xbox app, but neither he nor I are seeing any kinds of notifications when we create a lobby and try to invite the other person.

The closest thing we’ve been able to do is to have one person make a lobby and have the other person click on the xbox profile through the xbox app and click the join option. But when we do that it says “Unable to start multiplayer match. Please try again.”

I have never had this problem before. The only thing I can think of is that I’m on windows 10 insider, and my friend is on the retail build 1511

Neither of us receive a notification through xbox app or action center about invites.

I was having the same issue on pc, what solved the issue for me was to uninstall and reinstall the game. As for xbox, I guess you can try and do what i did.

We are both on pc. He literally just installed, and I had just installed again through updating the game… which is basically downloading and reinstalling the game.
