I’ve always been a fan of the sort of “shoto with a twist” type characters and Jago is certainly one of the more enjoyable ones for me. It’s interesting how even just laser sword alone can create situations that a more strictly Ryu type character can’t. Jago getting access to more ways of generating plus frames certainly lets him play aggressively more so than someone like Ryu could, but he still retains the strong normals and fireball/DP game that allows you to stick to that playstyle. I like that the goal can change heavily depending on the matchup. He’s a fine example of taking Ryu and adding/removing/twisting tools in a new game/environment and seeing what happens. And personally I get a pretty good kick out of just labbing stuff with him. I’m pretty impressed by the variety of setups and the like that I’ve found just exploring the character.
