The KI is too "YOLO" Debate

And by that measure, Rising Thunder is the most YOLO game on the market. Which is, of course, a ridiculous thing to say since the game is based largely around making good decisions.

I find attitudes like that to be highly annoying…An attitude like that can easily discourage anyone from even giving their game a chance. : U

People said the same thing about mkx beating ki. Two weeks after it’s release I lost interest in mkx and got back into ki.

Most KI fans are going nowhere. The problem is all those people who like fighting games but still haven’t tried KI…

Because of MKX and soon SF5, KI is dead to them.

This is utter meaningless nonsense. How can other games make KI ā€œdeadā€ for people who haven’t tried it? If they aren’t playing now, how can another game make them LESS likely to play? I’m not sure what makes people think these weird doom and gloom predictions have merit.

I am more likely to buy other fighting games because I have enjoyed KI so much. I bought BlazBlue on Xbox solely because people on this forum said it was worth a try. The FGC is a tiny niche community. Big games like MKX and SFV don’t somehow ā€œstealā€ players from KI. But they do expand and grow the FGC - meaning fans of those games are more likely to buy KI than people who don’t play any fighting game.

Simple – by overshadowing KI, just like they overshadow every other non-mainstream fighter.

Yeah, but this is what I am telling you. All those other non-mainstream fighters wouldn’t have ANY players at all if it wasn’t for the mainstream games. There is no one who posts on this forum that hasn’t played SF or MK in any form in the last 25 years. We all got here by being pulled into the fighting game world somehow. SFV is going to pull new people into the fighting game world and those people are much more likely to try KI than a bunch of guys sitting around playing CoD or Madden. Even better, if they learn some fundamentals in SF then they come to KI they are much more likely to stay because they will be able to at least pull off a few moves.

I’m inclined to agree with @BigbadAndy on this particular subject. I think what he’s saying has merit.

I’ve played Street Fighter all my life, and I have SF2 Turbo HD, all the way to SFXT, and I still find myself playing KI more.

this is why i say SF5 must succeed, not because im biased towards it, but because SF5 is going to be the main draw for new people entering the fighting game circle. i plan on playing both games heavily, but atm KI has my complete and undivided attention.

when im online playing SF5 on the PC, there is nothing that is going to stop me from telling all the people on my steam buddy list to give KI a shot when its released on PC! im just 1 person doing this, imagine others following suit? SF5 = larger player base entering the FGC. more FGC = more KI players.

I haven’t been around in a while (life) but seeing what you are saying is basically what’s been said since KI came out. Players from other fighting games have been hating on it because it’s not like the other fighting games. Just keep playing what you like to play, I think that’s what being a fan is about.

I dunno, I’ve been a Street Fighter player since 2 and Killer Instinct 2013 has taken over as my favourite fighting game ever. It’s just so damn perfect.
