The "GGs" Thread! (AKA The Enormous Matchmaking and Rational Beef Resolution Thread)

Sorry about that. Had to help my neighbor with something

I’m free to play with anyone. FT5 IF ANYONE IS DOWN.

I am absolutely down with that! Give me 5 min or so and I should be good to go.

EDIT: Nevermind. For whatever reason I am getting huge lag spikes periodically during battles which wrecks most of the game’s playability for me (and likely for the opponent too) and I don’t know whether it’s the game itself having problems or my net. I’ll have to try tomorrow and hope it works better then.

Good games to @GalacticGeek

And to the myriad Qualifiers, Silvers, and Golds that the game saw fit to toss my way in Ranked. Sorry guys…

Got blue arms and green color for Kilgore while on a set with bad weather.

Thanks, @STORM179!

It’s not my fault! I just wanted one good Ranked match before I went to bed

If it makes it any better, I used Mira…

Let me know when I can practice a bit against your Sadira and Hisako. Need to gets some experience in before Kombo Klash in 2 weeks. I’ll leave it up to you as you’ll be doing me a favor since you won’t learn anything from me LoL

Ok. You’re on a 13 hour time difference, right? So sometime early evening/early morning or something like that?

Around this time or even a few hours earlier/later works for me (currently it’s 1:30pm here on Tuesday in Tokyo).

Ok, so 14 hours with daylight savings time. So how about 10pm EST tomorrow? That’d be noon Wed your time I believe - does that work?

That’s perfect. I am on holiday so I am flexible. If anything comes in up in your schedule just send me a note. Let’s also see how the connection holds up

By the way, I’ll be playing Mira (and some Aria). Need to practice those air dashes, blood management and lockout punishes…basically everything haha

Cool beans. I can run Sako, Sadira, Jago, Mira, Tusk, or Kim, so take your pick :joy:

What’s the holiday?

Thanks. Sako, Sadira and Kim have priority but you can never practice enough Jago. There’s always a “plus” to fighting Jago. Pun intended.

I am just taking extra holiday as I have 30 holidays that I need to use up before the end of the fical year or I’ll lose them (in Japan you don’t get cash for leftover holidays).

Lol. That works. Alright then - we’ll play tomorrow :thumbsup:

GGs to my random exhibition opponent, TheDragKing911, who played a beastly Fulgore and Thunder against my, now official pocket character, Kilgore (I’m just having so much fun with this hunk of junk and the challenge he represents). My opponent even said in an XBL message, and I quote:
“hell yeah best killgore ive went with so far :ok_hand:”
…and yes, it actually had the emote.

That made my day.

Yeah it was a lot of fun. I still lost most of them but the matches were interesting as expected. Tusk’s huge damage potential always makes you feel like you can comeback if you just get in there one time. There were lots of crazy moments because we were both doing a lot of experimenting with our game plan - it was fun to watch Tusk slide halfway across the bottom of the screen while Kilgore’s metal ball flew over him going the opposite direction resulting in nothing for either character but a side swap.

You’re really good at breaking Tusk’s autos and sword linkers, which I think are fairly ambiguous. I meant to ask you are you looking at Kilgore’s animation on hit or do you just recognize these that much better than I do?

I usually don’t look at my character when breaking.

In Tusk’s scenario, his autodoubles are “easy” to identify to me, I rarely fail breaking them. Specially, when the MP and HP are being used. His MP and HP are slower than his MK and HK doubles, so I would always go for them as Tusk.

About his sword linker, is a slow one too, but my method it’s a bit more complicated here… When I see a sword linker, I watch both Tusk… and the KV meter.

The medium and heavy versions are very slow, and the light one can be reacted if you look for it. When I see a sword linker, I watch for an instant the animation, and take a look to the KV. If the KV growns a lot, it’s a light, if it growns not so much, a medium, and if it barely moves, a Heavy. Seems obvious, but the KV jump on lights and medium is very high, it’s easy to see it filling quickly the bar. It sounds weird, but I find easier to just look at the KV in this move to identify it’s strenght.

When I use a character, I tend to watch to my KV, since I don’t need to see my character to chain linkers/doubles/manuals due muscle memory, so I track my KV to watch my current ender lvl and how filled the KV meter is. Since I do this a lot, somewhat I can identify what strenght that character is using in a move when I face that character just looking at the KV meter.

Sounds a bit messy, but it’s easier than it looks
