The term “astral” is often used as a stand in for the term “spiritual”. That being said, it is a physical place…seeing as Kan-ra has gone there and while there still existed.
After Omen’s story I was really intrigued by his character. Omen is a spirit given corporeal form through a massive concentration of Shadow Energy. Omen was also given “life” through Gargos’ thoughts. Kan-ra’s story also gives us the hint that Gargos is “a god”…at least in comparison to those who reside on Earth. Gargos could be like Omen, a spirit given Corporeal form, but then again he could be a physical being that has existed since the beginning who simply feeds off the spiritual energies of the universe.
Is Cinder’s story today?

Yeah, that is why I said that it is “often” used a “stand in” for the tem spiritual. When people typically talk about the “astral plane,” they are talking about the spiritual realm. When people say “astral projection,” they are talking about projecting their spirit to a far off place.
