Technique Mode

I’d love to see a practice mode which focuses on repetition of all the various techniques used in KI. It can range from simple things like “perform X special move 10 times in a row correctly” or “Perform 10 anti-airs in a row correctly”. That way players could not only learn the different techniques, but get used to peforming them consistently. At the advanced level, it could include techniques such as whiff punishing, shadow counters, Medium/Heavy breaking, building different combos.

You can try and do all of this in practice mode on your own already, so your idea seems rather unnecessary to me.

Sure. Although you can say that about a lot of the things currently in Dojo mode, or in Trials. The added benefit would be the ease of tracking success and failures, getting the instant pass/fail feedback from the game, and being able to quickly and easily find and set up the technique to practice. Veterans of fighting games are probably pretty used to knowing how to use practice mode, so maybe this probably wouldn’t be something for them. But for someone new like me (and I would think other new players), it would be very useful to have this pre-determined set of drills to work on.

The thing is though, KI isn’t like other FGs with the so-called dial-a-combo. Its combo system is meant to be very fluid and dynamic and allow for the ultimate 2-way interaction. Also, it’s already pretty obvious if you succeed or fail at what you’re trying to do, so I don’t think you would need the game to tell you that.

If you’re looking for resources, I recommend the character subforums on this site, as well as ki.infil.net (the best online KI guide around; it’s so good that the devs have officially endorsed it in the game itself). You could also look up various videos on YouTube as well. The resources are already there aplenty. You just have to take that 1 extra step to find them. It’s not hard.

Thanks. I’ve read Infil’s guide before, it’s great. And I’ve already started putting together youtube playlists with helpful videos I’ve found.

Again, I don’t think this mode would be something anyone would “need” to have, just something that might be nice to have. Thank you for your feedback.

You’re welcome!

Remembering how folks were when RAAM dropped early before the Tender Moments, I think it would be very handy to have some character specific lessons. Not hand-holding levels of lessons, maybe 3-5 things you NEED to know about the characters. From there on, its up to you.

I think BlazBlu does something like that. It’s nice, especially in a game where the characters end up being so unique.

The character-specific command list is all you need for this.
