Team Sonic Racing

Really ?

How ?

I thought the sense of speed was determined by how much focus goes into the Kineaesthetics Effects… like motion blur, screen shake, shape warping and all that kind of stuff. But if it all that fails… they could just… you know… change the actual speed of the game… like DMC4’s Turbo Mode.

60 FPS just feels Smoother…

Motion blur looks ugly and doesn’t do racing games any favor. Transformed was a big, ugly, blurry mess.

I think the problem with Motion blur is only having one type… and its usually the wrong one…

What they need is Strategic bluring…

I have no idea what that means but I’m sure its what they need.

Man it’s been too long since we’ve seen an official Sonic song from Crush 40. I wish this trailer showed new stuff besides Rooftop Run though.

I liked racing transformed on PC. This seems less inspired to be honest. Can’t say it gets me that excited.

Yeah I’m getting the same feeling too… but what are our other options…? Need For Speed ? LoL… never in a million years !!!

I honestly wouldn’t mind just playing All Stars Racing Transformed for the next few years… nothing else even comes close.

Sorry Sumo Digital… I should have never doubted you… I was weak :frowning:

E3 2018: You Can't Win With Speed Alone in Team Sonic Racing - IGN

This might actually surpass Racing Transformed. :smiling_imp:

One problem I ran into was when two of our team started to gain the lead, and the last car got pummeled into near last place. Risking my neck to drop down to a mid position didn’t feel like it was worth it, and there wasn’t a lot of ways to really help the struggling racer

Grr

I still feel like a string of bad luck (which is always in abundance with 12 racers and hazards everywhere) can force your team apart, and if you don’t get the right items to send to your struggling friends, you’ll either have to take a big risk and drop behind to support, or hope for the most points at the end of the race.

Grrreh

getting separated too far will cost you the race, no matter where your best teammate places

One or two good points but I’m not liking this whole “no matter how good you play you can still lose if your team mates mess up” mechanic. There’s a lot of cool ideas here and customization options for (hopefully) changing how your car handles, but reading that article and the fact it seems focused on Sonic characters only is really turning me off this game.

I like that they’re trying something different with this game, personally. It’s a neat concept that opens up strategy in a way a lot of racers don’t try. If I end up not enjoying it, I could always just go back to Transformed.

Agreed, I enjoyed Transformed a great deal but if this game was just Transformed 2.0 it would defeat the entire point of bothering with it. I’m not too keen on what I’ve been hearing about this game so far, but apparently there was another game called Crash Nitro Kart that had teamwork mechanics with AI partners as well, so I personally feel a little better knowing that this is Sumo’s attempt of a similar formula. They did great with the last two games after all, so there is a chance this can be good as well.

That said, I doubt this game will be anywhere near as popular because it’s just Sonic characters. It doesn’t really help this game that the last two titles were designed to be love letters to all of the Sega franchises, and now they go back to just one franchise. It can easily end up falling into obscurity and if it ended up being good that would just be a shame.

So while we’re waiting for Sumo Digital’s next Master Piece… I stumbled upon this little Gem.

At first I thought this was some generic Kart Racer that wouldn’t hold a candle to Mario Kart let alone the almighty Allstars Racing Transformed… but it turns this lil gem is trying to come up with a Solution to the “Problem” that has always plagued the genre… The Semi Randomized Item Drops.

And I know you’re all familiar with what I’m talking about :smiling_imp:

now i only played the tutorial so i can’t be sure but So far.. the way the Drops work in All Star Fruit Racing is Items are scattered around the track… nothing new there… whats interesting is when you pick up these items, rather than having a single one time use only weapon… instead… you fill up 1 out of 4 Fruit Tanks attached to your Delicious Weapon Generator… to use one of the power ups you need to “Blend” the fruit juice from 1, 2, 3 or all 4 of those Tanks. The type of power up you Fire off will depend on which tanks you decide to leave connected to the Weapon Generator… you can attach and detach the tanks at any time…

This gives the game a weird but interesting Tactical Vibe that this sub genre needs so desperately. I’ll know more when I actually try it in an actual race.

Update: did a few races… yep I was right… you gotta blend your own Power Ups… I like how they try to teach you which combination of Fruit Juices grant you which power ups using the old Randomize Format…

Unfortunately this is definitely no Racing Transformed… the idea is brilliant but the Execution is not as good as it could be… particularly the drift/boost mechanic… its identical to the one in Racing Tranformed… with a few tiny differences:

  1. If you drift to much… you’l blow out the Engine.
  2. Chaining Drifts together doesn’t cause the boost to stack… infact if you release the drift while your previous boost is still active it has absolutely no effect… the whole thing was so underwhelming it felt like a Bug.

Its very unfortunate because it absolutely nailed the presentation… game is super adorable… the audio design could use alil work but the aesthetic is so amazing !!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :scream::scream::scream::scream::scream:

I was starting to get worried since there was still no release date. Now my suspicions have been confirmed. At least this will give them some time to add some polish to it.

An Exclusive multiplayer beta would be nice… They really shouldn’t do all their Quality Assurance In-House. Some real world testing from outside players will help them get bette feedback.

Look a this way, they can improve the game/

They ■■■■ well better !!!
I give’em lee way (is that how you say it ?) Because they made Allstars Racing Transformed…

Its cool that they decided to do this instead of of Racing Transformed 2: The Retranformening… I guess they believe they really knocked it out the park the first time so they were like: “We can’t improve on perfection… lets just make something different”… and I have to agree.
