And the overall DOA series has gotten quite boring overtime especially with the newer, later ones/sequels
oh Iâm not a DoA fan at all; just considering how much Namco has shat all over SoulCalibur in recent years, I canât expect much more.
They still didnât announcement Soul Caliber 6 at Tokyo Game Show. Iâm sure they will reveal SC6 trailer during Christmas or New Year?
Iâm extremely non-expectant now. For the 20th anniversary of SC, the only thing they did was tweet a picture. They donât seem to like the series much anymore. Given the response for SCV, Iâm not entirely surprised. SCV being regarded as pretty crappy, even compared to SC4.
Donât get me wrong. I really like the SC series, and I would really love to play SC6, but it seems Project Soul and Bandai Namco, donât think itâs worth the money anymore. Fighting games are pretty niche, and one that doesnât sell well could be the end of a series. SCV sold about 1.4 Million and SC4 sold 2.3 Million. So they got about 1 Million less sales than the previous release. That could have been the deciding factor.
Still waiting, but not on the edge of my seat.
I love SC, especially 1 and 2, but frankly they havenât really had a good idea for advancing the series since 3. The game was absolutely beautifully animated when SC1 came out (and still is) and featured really terrific fluid and responsive gameplay - compared to the kind of janky tap tap tap stuff of other 3d fighters. It has never really been considered a high level, technical or competitive fighter. I think Namco kind of recognized that and went another direction with SC IV and the âcreate a fighterâ sort of concept. People had a lot of fun with that and the game was fun - I even enjoyed the Star Wars crossover, which I know bothered some people. But SCV really just lost itâs way. The fluidity of the gameply was reduced and the emphasis on these weird armor breaks and trying to remove the characters clothes in ways that were really impractical etc. just fell flat. The new characters werenât very interesting and the magic is just gone.
I love this series. But if they canât recapture the fun from the original, I would rather see them do something else or just do nothing at all.
- We need SC IV-V backward compat on Xbox one.
- The people who own tekken made SC V so I doubt with Tekken 7 on the way they have the resources to work on a new SC
- They said Soul caliber V was the finale chapter and there really is no way for the story to continue after how it ended. I know story mode in fighting games arenât taken serious but yeahâŠ
Soulcalibur V was developed and released by Namco Bandai Games, but I donât think Harada ( Tekken creator ) had a hand in the games development. A petition for Soulcalibur V posted on Facebook back in 2010 and caught the attention of Katsuhiro Harada, but the director was Daishi Odashima. In all honesty as nice as backward compatibility is Iâd rather have a new SC game and correct every mistake made with 5 since SCV had way too many issues, from the decision in which characters were removed/ overall roster to the abysmal story.
Hopefully Aeon Calcos/Lizardman will make his appearance. Heâs been in almost every game ever made (except for the lizard-men in SCII)
Wonder what will happen to him now?
Iâm starting to give up on SC6. But I still want to believe they will announcement SC6âŠ
Give them time my friend, besides they need to release Tekken 7 first, then Tekken X StreetFighter THEN they can develop SC6.
Hold on, I thought Tekken X Street Fighter was already released, wasnât it? Or still not yet?
Ugh I just really want marvel fighting game
The sucky part is even if they announce it will take 2 years to release
Is no longer in development. However, Street Fighter X Tekken is out.
Theyâre up to 6 now? Damn, I havenât actually played one since SC2 on gamecube.
Still IMHO Nightmare would be awesome for KI.
Actually here is some news for now on TXSF https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8c01FH2P0Q
Have you played SC3 Arcade Edition (SC3AE)? It was waaaaay more balanced, and more tournament viable characters were added⊠It sucks that Bamco decided to make this version after the console release. This business model wouldâve never been effective during the PS2 era at all, and this is evidence of itâŠ
I never got to play in arcades. If it wasnât on a console, I didnât get to play it.
That is quite honestly why I have my own MAME arcade cabinet nowâŠsooo many missed gamesâŠplus it just feels authentic.
I tried to get MAME to work, but I canât figure that damn thing out. Maybe I downloaded the wrong thing, but it doesnât work like an emulator for me.
I do not in any way claim to be an expert on MAMEâŠitâs usually fairly bare-bones and complicated, and 9 times out of 10 people you can find online that can actually help you out are pretentious snobs that will tell you their backwards, confusing method for getting it to work right, and if you canât figure it out from that then youâre no longer worth their time. I gotta be honest I really have no clue how exactly I got it all set upâŠa lot of trial and error, but it works for me, so Iâm happy.
