Shadow Lords TOO HARD!

Gargos on Godlike mode is ridiculously hard. His health regenerates in abnormal speed.

I start with Fulgore + ceremonial dagger + Killer guardian (+80% damage) + 25% damage nanobot + wolfheart. That’s a lot of hype beams in a row. Can take out 2 gargo’s lifebars easy.

FINALLY GOT MY ASTRAL PLANE BEATING GARGOS WITH A SINGLE CHARACTER ON CHALLENGING.

Used recipe above to take out 2 lifebars using hype beam. Ceremonial dagger + wolfheart. Once he’s all potential damage then use shadow blade dash and go straight to ender to finish that lifebar. Then when he’s waking up with the new lifebar, spam sweep, some more hype beams, etc. A lot of sweep spamming, he just blocks and if in Instinct he falls on his ā– ā– ā– ā–  every time.

I think in previous attempts I was being too honest fighting Gargos. If he’s stoneskinning, then just sweep with whatever character you have and he’ll soon burst his stone skin. He’ll try to portal punch or get minions from far away and those times you can react easily with whatever shadow special you have that goes through projectiles.

I love it.

Glad to hear you got him!

Thanks for all the tips, Uncapped. I honestly was fighting Gargos as if I was in versus mode. It’s not versus mode, it’s a single player experience, and once I realised that I allowed myself to bring the cheese

Yeah, I’ve mentioned it several times, you can’t play KI in Shadow Lords. You have to play Shadow Lords. It’s all about what’s cheap, not what’s FG Logical. Glad you got him though.

I find that the mentality switch I had from just enjoying a fighting game’s story on the hardest difficulty, to trying to compete, made me play ā€œworseā€ when fighting the CPU. This may be a case of correlation =/= causation, but it feels like the cause.

To me, playing against the AI is like playing against a single guy that has his own distinct style of play, and the more you play against him, the better you get at playing…against him. But he doesn’t play the same way other people do.

He also doesn’t learn. I must have swept this Gargos about 12 times with Fulgore and he didn’t learn to stop it.

I approach SLs like a do an ā€œAction Adventure gameā€, not like I do a fighting game. I think that is actually why I’m enjoying it the way I am.

  • I play SLs with CAM on.
  • I pick characters that I haven’t even chosen before to take on a lot of these matches.
  • I equip certain characters with certain gear for specific characters/Mimic loadouts.

With CAM on, I find that I don’t have to think in terms of fighting games really, as I’m not learning FG combos per-say, rather I’m learning combo strings (like X,X,B,A) like I would in say a God of War game or something. Thinking of it this way for me simplifies the game TREMENDOUSLY, so I find I’m not really thinking that hard.

See, I don’t get to play FGs that much any more at all, so taking the game hella serious isn’t something I can realistically do. It took a bit of time for me to realize this, but now that I have, I’m just rolling with it. That being said, I know what these characters can do since I’ve seen so many tournaments. This being the case, I can expand my abilities while playing each character, so it is like I’m playing an adventure game with a TON of characters, who all have specific combo traits and skill trees.

So yeah, you can’t play against AI like you would a real person, but you can have fun with it and learn some stuff…even if what you are learning is just the basics with certain characters, or just refining your grasp on how each character works.

Anyone else get really tired of Fulgore? Plays like a Kyle player x10. I hate him so much in this mode.

Tusk with armor is the sickest one, if he have it + those instinct buffs he can be worse than gargos.

PS. same for thunder.

Tusk is the absolute worst when it comes to AI reading your moves, along with Maya and Fulgore- It’s so annoying.

Fulgore is a monster

Great job, is hilarious to see you had ā€œno health leftā€ after the battle… In the end I think your Fulgore had more health in reality (the hype of success is always a joy to feel, especially when Gargos have his Fang as the secured buff for his arrival) just like how I have destroyed Gargos on Godlike twice (out of 3 fights I had against him) oh an that Killer Exemplar status buff is nice (and if you know how to use the guardian things can be turned to your favor pretty nice).

da ā– ā– ā– ā– !?! Wish you never do that on MPSL.

I can’t like that enough…that is some high-grade Ultra work right there. Props to you!

Honestly I think it’s sad that so many people want to just completely remove anyone’s ability to style like that online & offline in any mode because they get so salty or bored over watching their opponent style after they lose online.

Yeah, how dare they not want to literally sit there for 5+ minutes, the length of 2 or more matches, just to watch some guy do this over and over instead of moving on to the next match? They’re just STYLING, not like they’re doing anything wrong.

I see nothing wrong with limiting Ultras while playing online, but offline? What does it matter to anyone else what you do offline in your own free time?
