Quick anecdote: asked my wife if she could watch the kids for a few hours as I needed to go to the local mall’s electronics store to check out something.
That “something” was another demo version of SamSho different from the console version with more playable characters
(I can confirm, Earthquake and Hanzo are fun to play )
@xSkeletalx the earlier tutorial vid is more concise and made by someone familiar with the series.
However, if you want to take the time, James Chen has been following the game from the start. Below is a very long stream of him trying to learn the game while at the same time also explaining mechanics.
I pre ordered weeks ago (as I may have already posted) and when the clock hit 12 last night I had a little play with it. No videos do it justice in terms of it’s art style presentation, some of the stages are so gorgeous to look at.
Wish there had been some character trials ala SF but the game nails something that most FG’s can’t… It’s simply fun to play.
Yes, no YouTube video or trailer did the game justice indeed. I played the demo and it’s gorgeous. Much like how KI looked better on your monitor than during YT trailers.
The game hopefully does well enough to get some extras but the gameplay is so satisfying.
For some reason the game is out on 27th in Japan so I have to wait two more long, long days.
today is a great day, sam sho is back! unfortunately, im going to have to wait for another 6 months until i can play this. unless i crack, turn on PSN, and pray to the gods my ps3 stick works on this game for ps4 lol
Thanks for this - I think it’ll be helpful! Genjuro is my original stand-out, but I’m considering TamTam, Haoh, 7-swords, Charlotte, Darli, and possibly Shiki.
If you have a Asian PS or X1 account, a demo is available on Asia stores. Not sure about North America.
Tried out Kyoshiro and Wu Ruixiang so far.
Definitely Ruixiang is tough but I am having quite some fun with her. I hope she doesn’t get too popular because I love niche or underrated characters.
Kyoshiro is not too difficult to play and is extremely well animated. Gorgeous to watch every move.
Charlotte is my favorite character but I am holding out on choosing a main. Just having fun playing a lot of characters for now.
Also, I haven’t streamed in ages maybe need to start again…
Not fantastic play by any means, but had time to get in my first two games before work this morning. Both were not fantastic connections (and the second desynced and disconnected when we tried to rematch) but I enjoyed it so far! I have spent zero time in training so I need to learn inputs, moves, timing, even take the basic tutorial, but I have a good feeling that I might be able to be good at SSho.
Just remember that Kick button is very important. It is used to counter and knockdown opponents, and generally to set up special moves and strikes. Certain characters can use kick to create distance or switch sides, so lots of uses in addition to it being a fast normal.
They probably need to fix online performance and stabilize (as usual with Japanese fg titles), I have no issues but that’s because I’m in Japan on PS4…
I bought it. I’m extremely jet lagged but I admit I’m not really enjoying the pace of the game. It’s extremely slow and then it slows down even more online. I’m not going to give up on it until I have time to play while I’m not completely gaga, but right now it’s hard to see myself playing this too much.
