LOL No roasting bro, just gonna throw out some random thoughts as I watch. Slightly inebriated so please excuse my sauciness:
Against Hisako, more fire and lows and throws. Fire isn’t counter-able, and she needs a hard read to counter lows, and she’s ironically weak against throw mixups. Also, stay close - she’s way more effective @ about 25% 0 50% screen distance than she is point blank VS Riptor.
You tend to give up space a little too willingly. You play thoughtfully and with respect, which is good, but you give your opponent a little too much credence to the space directly in front of you.
Stay on top of Glacius. Give him an inch and he’ll take a mile. That glacius wasn’t that good and you did take the 2/3 but he wouldn’t have one that one match if you didn’t try to out zone him periodically. Riptor is a lot like a KOF character in that she can be in your grill at a moment’s notice, definitely take advantage of that VS Glacius (and Kan, but you likely won’t face a Kan @ EVO)
Nice job baiting the wake-up puddle punch with flame-carpet > shimmy; also, LOL at the retaliatory full ultra, dude deserved it
I’d like to see you making more use of light normals. Several situations VS jayflip’s Arbiter could have gone in your favor if you’d have chosen faster buttons to punish and/or attempt hit confirms with.
Try to jump on reaction to Arbiter disappearing. You’ll usually get the punish as Arby recovers, lots of dead frames on that command grab when it whiffs
I’ll say it again - punish Arby with light normals > opener. Jayflip got away with too much.
Hisako’s delayed normals have a huge breakable window once they connect, so wait for the connect to attempt the break. That’ll give you more time to discern the animation and prevent the lockout (but be wary - that’s premium counter-breaker bait, and us Hisakos absolutely love to toy with it).
Please maximize damage on punishes and lockouts. I cry a little every time you’re content with a LVL1 Ender punish
VS Hisako, the preferable follow-up to a blocked talon rake is fire. There’s no configuration of tail-flip setup that Hisako gives a single crap about (PPP counter eats them all) (not that this Hisako did well to use counters VS your tail flips but a better Hisako will eat that ■■■■ like candy)
Please note: Ziarist said thanks to the person on chat who complimented his Riptor, and didn’t take the opportunity to correct that person on Riptor’s gender. Ziarist is a kind person.
Did that Hisako just go for a reset, get the LVL4, and then blow it on a counter-break? GTFO HISAKO PLZ (I say that with the most love possible, as a Hisako main )
I skipped over the second set with OsamasAlive because dinner will be ready soon and I wanna see another match-up, please forgive me
You sometimes use meter to punish in situations where light normals would serve the same purpose
Don’t be afraid to bulldog VS Jago and block fireballs on the way in. The chip is negligible and Jagos often go on tilt once they realize you don’t care about their fireballs.
Careful with flame breath VS Jago in neutral. He can blow it up pretty readily.
Should have built meter between rounds after that connected shadow counter @ around 1:02:00. It’s not corpse-whipping if you’re building meter
You counter-break shadow linkers often - it’s working for you, but be aware of that tendency as someone may try to blow it up in tournament
You had no reason to block those two mortars, LOL. He got the run-up throw because of it
Your first order of priority, in my opinion, should be practicing hit confirms. And defend that space - don’t walk yourself into corners!
Hope you got some of what you were looking for! Have fun @ EVO friend!
I was going to post some suggestions but @Marbledecker couldn’t have said it better, so I don’t have a need to add anything more.
I will however offer a set, should you be interested. I’d like to think I have a really solid Jago and noticed you struggle a bit with him. A few matches with me should help you get comfortable with the matchup and give you a great sense of the neutral game.
