I’m honestly curious, where does it explicitly say that there’s only 3 stages? I interpreted it as that there’ll be 3 stages when its released, but again, since there’s a consensus amongst everyone that there’s only going to be 3 stages for the whole of season 3…
I don’t know. If they used Shadow Tiger’s Lair - or Kan Ra’s stage with the portal as Gargos’s stage I could see that.
Three stages in total for season three, this have been confirmed by the devs.
Ah. Cool.
Imean stages are alright, but I just tend to go on Shadow Tiger Lair/Pinnacle/Portal every other time so I’m honestly not that bothered.
I would definitely be disappointed if there’s only 3 stages, especially if there’s more than 3 characters in S3. One of the things that make me love KI3 is the fact that every character has stages. Kinda sad so many other fighting games have stopped doing that nowadays.
Heck, i was kinda hoping that down the line we could even get some retro stages as DLC. Perhaps not likely, as i can’t imagine stages selling all that well compared to costumes and the like, but i know i’d by them in a heartbeat.
A modern take on Orchid’s helipad rooftop stage, with remixes of both Killer Grove and Play Hard? YES PLEASE!
But if we get neither more than 3 nor retro stages, it is what it is. Not like i’m gonna give up on the game or anything. I just won’t be AS excited as i could be. If there’s one thing i’d really want though, then it’s for the old sensei dude from KI Gold’s training mode to be reimagined as a playable character. KI is all about tropes from pop culture and movies, but we are still missing the old martial arts master trope. And we already have one they can use right there in established KI lore! Give him a dojo for a stage as well, and i know i’m sold ![]()
Where has it been confirmed? Because in the blog and in the OP’s post of this thread, i only saw implications and suggestions of it. No hardline statement or fact.
Use the dev tracker.. and read carefully.
I’m sorry, but what is the dev tracker? I’ve no idea what that is.
a feature on the home page of the forum that lets you see automatically what the big wigs and developers/managers comment on various post
Oh, thank you :). I’ll go check it out
Just take our word for it. A lot of people in the source I provided at the top asked Rukari if he was trolling us because everyone who has worked on KI has trolled us at some point or another but he specifically said it multiple times that he was not trolling and that he wasn’t being coy or just beating around the bush. He straight up confirmed only three stages like 20 times because people were in disbelieve. Even adam showed and repeated the same message. Now more than 3 stages and no Ultimates.
That’d sure count as confirmation, yes. Don’t get why it wasn’t just included in the OP. Would make things a lot less speculative, and a lot more definitive. But thanks for providing evidence ![]()
I’m starting to wonder if the time that had to be spent on making the pc port caused them to have less time to create more stages.
no it didnt. it would have happened regardless. we dont know everything about S3 and the devs has said there are things we dont know about that they will release that will make you feel alot better about the trade offs.
All I’m gonna say is this, I hope the lack of stages this season has a huge pay off in other areas. I’m not entirely sure what those other areas could be, but I really hope it is something like an awesome story mode rather than “thats the cost of the pc port”
Let me say one thing:
I can’t stand the statement “KI has 20 stages. That’s a lot for a fighting game and more than most others have.”
Until now almost every character got its own stage. Why? Because the stages are part of the characters. They represent their individuality and background. Without her stage Aria would not be as imposing as she is now, without Aganos’ stage, we would not have known how the other golems would look like, without Hisako’s stage, we would not know how the place she protects actually looks like…and this is true for every character. The new characters who will not get their own stage will feel less complete and won’t impact the player’s emotion as much as the “full” characters.
Overall, this is very sad news. I am really grateful for the new graphics update but I just can’t believe that the amazing formula of new character + his/her stage has been dropped.
Yeah that’s good wishful thinking. If there is a story mode they may need in between stages/arenas that don’t take place their in order to get exposition. It’s a big IF but possible maybe, probably not.
