Ranked Points don't make sense?

Love the game but the ranking system confuses me. I’m killer rank:

-When I beat different ranks these are the points I get
Bronze - 5 points
Silver - 20 points
Gold - 35 points
Killer - 50+ points

The above makes sense but when I lose to these ranks I get the same amount deducted. Shouldn’t I lose more points for getting beat by a lower rank and less points getting beat by someone in the same rank as me? Makes no sense to me

The whole ranking system is sort of wacky and honestly it is one thing that I hope to see evolved in the future.

In the past it WOULD make sense that you would lose more points IF you lose to somebody who is a lower rank than you, but I honestly believe the reason they don’t do that, is to discourage “smurfing”.

I’ve faced Silver players that were KI demigods using tech that most Killer’s can’t even comprehend. I’m happy to only lose the 20 points versus a much higher percentage.

Honestly I would like to see a Ranking system similar to S1, but tweaked so you can’t get deranked just by losing one match or two.

There is a thread about the point system. You might need to dig a little bit. Basically it depends on your rank and the rank of the person you are fighting. If you are bronze and beat a killer, you will get a chuck of points. If you are bronze and beat another bronze, then the points are smaller. If you are a killer and lose to a gold, you will lose more points than if you lost against another killer ranked person. If I remember right you will lose about 200 points if you are killer ranked and lose to a qualifying person.

Just remember the points are based on your current level and the level of the person you are matched against. The higher ranked person will take the bigger point hit.

I don’t think that’s correct based off of watching the points I earn or lose while playing ranked matches. My original post is what I’ve found to be correct. I searched for a thread on the points system but didn’t find anything. Link if you can

It never made sense to me.

In my opinion, this requalify option is a shame. Now we see a lot of killers resetting their ranks just to beat low level players.

I agree with this sentiment. You can reset ranks, but not your actual skill, so I find it as a method to “bully” lower ranks or newer players and that inherently scares them away making this a harder game to break into and potentially giving it a bad reputation for that very reason when it’s really not that hard to get into at all.

It’s a very random system, I’ll say that.

I was certain there was some method to the whole points system (gaining more points for let’s say getting a double supreme in a best of 3 match) but it goes all over the show with some matches.

Someone quits on me during a match and I got about 350 points for it. Next time it happened and I’ll only got about 50.

I doubt the opponent’s rank was that much of a factor.
Maybe an update to breakdown how the points are worked out on the post-match report could be what solves this.
