YES! But there so many feels…

I think you missed my point.
The characters in KI could all be transgender-bending quadrosexuals for all I care. That aspect of their background has nothing to do with the Killer Instinct. I’m not interested in knowing about that any more than I am in whether or not Tusk is a Mormon.

I agree to some extent, but I think being trans can be apart of character development.

Like say how Jago’s faith is relevant to his development.

Good point! There is a mysticism to Jago’s ‘way of the tiger’. But you might argue that his faith seems to be part of what shaped him into a deadly fighter, which is relevant to the game.
If they can find a way to shoehorn transgender into “being a good fighter”, then I applaud their ingenuity.

You don’t have to “shoehorn” anything though. It doesn’t need to be forced. I understand the disdain for LGBT being infected into “everything” especially when its not relevant. However as far as characters are concerned, it’s possible to include such details as matter of fact. as opposed to solely being there to be the “the transgendered one”

All this because I thought I’d come up with a clever compromise.
Well, might as well give my two cents…
I don’t think the gender or orientation matters for any character in a fighting game, but I’m open to just about anything in the right situation. Regardless of what’s in their pants or lack thereof a character should be defined by their actions and personality, as well as their alignment, the way they move, the way they’re designed, etc. While gender and orientation are certainly more important for long form story telling and natural relations, there are plenty of other character traits that hold far more bearing in how they’re defined, especially in a fighting game.
Also of note:
I think that a vampire would, in theory, be a great fit for an androgynous or feminine male character, since vampires have the capability to be flexible while maintaining their characteristics. As we’ve seen in this thread, vampire characters in fiction come in all different forms regardless of who they want to suck.

TL;DR- Can things like androgyny and sexuality be good character traits? Certainly, I’ve got characters from mu own creative works in the making from a variety of backgrounds, races, and identities. Creative freedom and personal identity have no boundaries other than the ones we set ourselves.
Should these traits be their sole defining traits? Absolutely not. People of all kinds are almost guaranteed to have for more interesting aspects of their character than what their genitals are or how they use them.

Not gonna knock on how anyone else thinks/feels about this sort of stuff, of course. Different strokes for different folks and all that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why do people want certain kinds of characters in the game?
Why a vampire?
Why a werecat?
Why male?
Why female?
Why blonde?
Why brunette?
Why wielding a weapon?
And why certain weapons?
Why dark skin?
Why pale skin?
Why from a certain country?

Most of the time it’s just because people think its cool or wants a character to represent a certain trope or group of people. And most of the time, people don’t need more justification than that.

But as soon it has to do with anything that is considered LGBT+, people want a page-long explanation to justify why they want it in the game.

Personally… I just thought it would be cool to see it be represented!
Why?
Because I grew up in a world where being part of the LGBT+ community was considered taboo. And it still is in many places of the world. Heck, there are places where being something that isn’t accepted as “normal” will get you arrested and even killed!

So yeah, it puts a smile on my face when game developers takes the step and give me the option to play someone that represents something I am and something I am part of. It shows me that the game developers who are making a game I like are showing their acceptance, respect and tolerance towards me and others like me.

It’s love. <3
That’s all the reason I need.

But anyways, that’s somewhat of a sidetrack. Let’s get back to discuss ideas for making an awesome Vampire character. ^^

I like the idea. I think it would be cool to see an arrogant LGBT vampire that talks down to people because of their immortality, powers and experience.

Yes I wanted the vampire to be a snobby holier than thou type

It kinda goes with the theme, doesn’t it? Being a Vampire, being immortal and having alot of power on his fingertips, usually goes hand in hand with being very arrogant and belittling his foes, because of course there’s no possible way they can harm him with their pathetic weapons or meager strength.

I mean, he’s a Vampire, after all. The epitome species, above all else.

However, at the same time there’s a certain grace and respect towards others that is only curtious to show, because as a Vampire, he is a finer wine, if not the finest of them all, so that is to be expected of him.

Take Slayer from Guilty Gear, for example. He treats every battle like a dance, but doesn’t underestimate his opponent, even though he knows he cannot die from the encounter. Even when defeated, he just lies on the ground and smirks at the opponent who celebrates his/her victory.
