Playing rank for the 1st time EVER and getting bodied!

Yea I’ve been playing against cpu only since launch in 2013 lol I’ve never played fighting games at a competitive level, always just casually lol I still enjoy the game though lol

The cool part of playing against humans is that you can use mind games, AI will always now how to break frame 1, ppl who break a heavy linker at frame 1 are guess breaking so…Counterbreaker coming through! XD

@ xOGTxBONESx I’m low tier gold, and like @xCrimsonLegendx I cant get much further here either, love switching characters so I dont have one really superbly mastered character to get to killer. Always interested to play some games with people of (hopefully) the same skill, so if you ever see me online, send me an invite.

I just picked up this game less than a month ago, and I’m pretty much completely new to fighting games in general, let alone KI. I’m having a lot of fun, but I haven’t had a single match yet where I haven’t gotten completely destroyed. I’m not too worried about it though, I’ll get better with time, and I’m having fun either way.

Ranked is always hard. You think it’s bad now… just wait until you get into Killer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s the deal and don’t feel bad about losing a lot. We ALL do. There is a HUGE difference between the types of fights you have in Exhibition versus Ranked. As points are on the line, people tend to bring their best. It’s hard to have an AA game every fight. In Killer, I’ve even had people lag out the match to prevent me from winning. I had a Gargos do this just last night. I’m completely destroying him and then magic lag occurs every single time I connect a combo, but events like this are few are far between.

Here’s my advice… Don’t get frustrated… just keep at it. Even the individual is nice, offer to play a few sets with them. the more you learn the better you’ll get.

Again, there are times when we all get bodied.

I was once paired against Cstyles 5 times in a row! Talk about lousy twist of fate.

IT’s fine to train vs an AI, but it’s better to fight against human sometimes.
AI on high difficulties are rough but you cannot really learn from your loss.

Vs human, you can learn how you got beaten and why (his combos/manuals/meta etc.)
As many and I said: “In Ranked, you gain a lot while winning, and earn a lot while losing”.

Edit: I got beaten so many times by Shago back in March, but i learned how he worked, and when i face him, i just laugh.

Keep it up.

This weekend was the first time I was able to start playing ranked. I was something like 2-17 so far, with 1 of those being someone who quit/got disconnected. Naturally, I got matched up against a gold level 50 Shadow Jago. Holy ■■■■ did I ever get destroyed. I wasn’t even mad, I was just impressed. I’m pretty sure he felt bad for me and just let me hit him a couple of times before doing a 100+ hit combo to end the match and send my soul into another dimension as part of a stage combo.

That’s how it was for me, KI is the first fighting game that I have ever gotten into, before that I never even touched them. I got my ■■■ beat consistently whenever I played online and stuck to offline and local only. Once I felt I good enough offline I took it online and did really well. Long story short I would say it’s better to lose than win at times just to learn how you got beat and what you can do to counter that the next time, which is what I wish some people did more than crying nerf this when they lose. Anyway have fun getting those beat downs and welcome to KI.

yes me!
i never played ranked. only against AI and friends (who don’t know how to play KI).
We play for fun, i win, then my friends win. just for fun. don’t play ranked cause i know i gonna lose all the time. so i just stay away. maybe i try one day…

I noticed shagos love their double, triple ultras, thing is whenever anyone starts an ultra i take off my headphones and start browsing my phone, so i don’t actually sit through it and just let them play with themselves for a while

That’s funny, a killer ranked shago tore me a new one yesterday lmao

Nice im in the same boat ive played a bit of online enough to get past the 10 matches to qualify but mostly i generally stick to playing the ai modes for a few matches with some being with a group of friends every so often.

always that hesitation of playing ranked. would love to get some ppl who might be in the same category as me to have some fun matches and learn form each other.

Talk to ZDhome, I played like over 20 matches with him yesterday, I lost every single one lol but he gave me tips/advice to get better. I currently can’t play cuz of WiFi problems but when I get it fixed I’ll probably play some more ranked

I’m in that same category, if not even more of a beginner. I’d be down to play sometime.

From a new player that’s grinding the ladder to another? Never give up!

When I’ve started to play on ranked it was a pain to raise from bronze till gold, and when i finally got there I started to get kicked so hard that i thought it was impossible for me to leave the bottom of gold rank. So i decided to requalify to do it all over and get more xp and noticed that i was tearing the bronze players like hot knife in butter, silver was not that hard and gold now is a not that bad (at least until you get 3 top killers in a row and loose half of the points you won). It takes some time, but you will get better.

This is happening to me constantly. It makes me not want to play anymore.

Try to look in another way, you can learn with those matches a lot more then with a match against another bronze player. They are there for a reason, they all found the ways to play better. If you are getting to many fights against killers, take a brake and go train at the dojo or finish story mode, fight the AI in dificult mode or higher. You will start to avoid some tricks that can make a big difference.

Yesterday I’ve started the day with 2/3 of gold bar and a 55-55 score, but since it was a bad day for me i went down to 1/3 of gold bar and a 68-79 score. Fought killer after killer, yeah its a pain but if i cannot beat them now i will not be able to beat them on killer rank also. Sad but true.

yeah man the days when I lose more than i win in ranked are the days where I start turning to other things. But maybe Shadow Lords will help keep the interest up

I’m a noob in the sense that I picked KI up shortly after the PC release and have only played Ranked enough to get to Silver, which diversifies the pool of opponents I get in Exhibition. I’m kind of afraid to rank up anymore for fear of getting perma-impossible opp and not having fun with it anymore.

I’m a few points from silver lol
