Ok how do you learn to fight kan ra

I actually think Kan-Ra is good to have in the game. (especially in s3, ha! ;D) He has some tough things to deal with but he his beatable like anyone else.

Some quick tips for anyone fighting Kan Ra. He may use the following moves moving around in the air or in the middle of the combo. If he already has you in a combo, break, otherwise, try to shadow counter the following:

(l,m,h = lights, mediums, heavies)

  • standing pinwheel, hits 5x, break with medium
  • standing kick sand to face, hits 4x (a bit harder to SC), h
  • air diagonal drilldown (hands), hits 3x, m
  • air cartwheel, hits 2x (not hard, you just need to be quick with the SC for this one), h

(to be honest this next one is so difficult to SC, it may not be worth it, but know itā€™s possible)

  • air vertical drilldown (feet first), hits up to 6x close, (hits less further away you are from him), h

Other tips

  • if a shadow scarab is floating above your head, use Mayaā€™s mobiity to try to get out of there. If youā€™re stuck in a corner and you anticipate the command grab, you might wanna go ahead and jump into the scarab as you will only take 4% damage vs 14% from the command grab. Her only shadow move that nets you the ā€œleast of all evilsā€ might be to use her shadow leap kick. In this case, youā€™re likely to lose 3% damage but deal 5% damage on KanRa
  • if he jumps, stay grounded and use her great anti-air attack (d+HP) when in reach
  • if you are already in the middle of blocking a scarab, remember you canā€™t be command grabbed

Basically, like others have said
1 - pressure pressure pressure on knockdown.
2 - use shadow counters on all multihits that you can comfortably react to.
3 - Realize that most aerial attacks are breakable after youā€™ve been hit with a swarm.

Another thing to take note of is when fighting Kan-Ra is to be aware of clutch setups involving scarabs. Sometimes you have to force yourself to block a scarab so that you can avoid getting command grabbed. Doing this will leave you open to low attacks though, so know when to block and alternate between high and low blocking.

Also, rushdown smartly! You donā€™t want to put in all of that work for mixups only to get hit with Sacrifice. That only restarts the ā€œcat-and-mouseā€ game of chasing Kan-Ra all over again. You do have the tools to make this task quicker than most characters.
