I’m trying to climb to killer and I’m literally getting so frustrated getting knocked back down to zero I’m back to be like who I gotta pay to play for me. Seriously all I’ve been matched up against are ex killer ranks in qualifier so when they wreck me I lose even more points. I’m constantly being matched against killer tier people who clearly don’t belong in that league.
I have two pieces of advice, though I’m not sure if they’ll help:
Actually, the first isn’t really a piece of advice but an offer of assistance. I can’t play your matches for you, but I’ll happily train with you. Add me (GT is the same as my forum name) and I’m sure I can probably help somewhere.
The second thing? Just keep going/working at it. Having no sight whatsoever is actually handy in these kinds of situations. You don’t know how many points you’ve won/lost. Every match could, possibly, be your last match before being promoted to Killer. You’ll get there in the end. I did, twice (once in Season 2 and once in Season 3). I’ve faced down more frustrating challenges than this, the Boss Shago AI for one and everyone else in ranked for 2 whilst trying to get achievements.
Basically, it’s a struggle, but you need to carry on fighting.
Playing ranked also makes me want break my controller in half. But I need that achievement so I’m going to be angerly grinding till I get it.
If it helps, i’m on the same boat. I’m playing on ranked for almost 3 months (i think), requalified once after the first week being screwed hard on gold rank and now i already got demoted from ultra to master (loosing 800 points in a sequence) three times. Yesterday i finally reached the promotion match, got screwed once more, lost 150 points (By the way this is really a hard punish, it’s a lot more frustrating because it’s not that easy to get 150 points back at gold rank) just to fight a top 5 killer as last match and loose again. Yeah it’s frustrating as hell, even more when you keep loosing to the same guys over and over again, but don’t give up and do not let the win/loose ratio be a burden. Keep in mind that you are competing with very good players at this point and most people don’t even reach this rank. If you start to loose too much, take a break, go practice a little in shadow labs/dojo and come back latter, also do not play being angry, it will make you even more frustrated when you loose.
Good luck.
This might seem shady, but if you can change the time of day that you play. There are more advanced players at night, so it is easier to change ranks during the day, when they are not on. Late nights on the weekend are the worst for people who are not that good. Not all killer ranked people got there because they are good, but did it because of the time of day.
Sajams Youtube guide (bronze to Killer) helped me when trying to get to Killer for the first time. His tips were very good even is a season 2 gameplay.
I understand you get frustrated when you get matched vs killers… After requalyfying I got to fight vs them many times. Even being silver or gold most of them wouldn’t change their main. However I keep on using characters I didn’t know unless they were rude, then I would use my main.
I noticed that gold rank tend to play..mmh, how to put it. Well don’t really know how say it but even most killers play like that xD

Try to get reads on the opponent (watch their wake up game, breaking game and overall offensive and deffensive as much as you can). With this you may get a pattern of their gamestyle. (that’s what I see in gold, they tend to be more repetitive that killers)
-
Learn to use shadow counters when in frametraps or vs Shadow moves effectively.
-
Neutral jump to bait them throw stuff and punish them. For instante: If you get a wall splat then back dash or neutral jump so they can’t grab you and make them feel afraid and desperate to get out of the corner. Watch out, if you are to repetitive they will anti air you. But it’s actually good.
-
If they have you on the ground learn to wake up depending on your character. Learning to block is a big deal. Beware of meatys and throws when down. Don’t just mash buttons.
-
When they get you in a combo don’t just try to break right away, and try to avoid guessing at frame 0. Watch out for heavies counter breakers though.
-
Know your character buttons as much as possible.
-
And… Don’t let their rank scare you xD if they are really good you will learn ver interesting things. If they aren’t that good you may be able to beat them next time.
Best of lucks!
There are a few things you can do to keep your rank climbing and the wins piling up.

Git Gud. This one is the great big silly one, but it’s definitely the core. Sometimes it takes not months, but years to truly build the skills needed, and our top players show just what that amount of time can do. Little things like learning to block things that give you trouble, developing better breaking habits, making good use of manuals and counter breakers to give yourself room to get big lockout damage, and just making sure you don’t do unsafe stuff/making sure you punish the opponent can all make a big difference.
Just keep practicing, in the lab or in the field, and you’ll get up there eventually. -
It’s okay to quit while you’re ahead (or behind). I saw some posts in this thread about losing 800 points in a big streak. Don’t let that happen. Of you lose a few games in a row, it’s best to take a break and give it another try later. The constant spiral of losing will only make it more likely each time. A break now and again can really help curb a losing streak before it begins.
And maybe if you win a few games in a row and make progress you’re happy with you could end it on a high note. -
Find characters that work. Whether you find a main or a pocket full of characters, you should make sure you know how to use them right. Practice set-ups and combos against a dummy or the AI just to get your execution down. Learn your options on wake-up, your block strings, your mix-ups; any tools your character has available to them. It’ll help keep you out of poor situations that you cause yourself.
And don’t be afraid to use different characters if you aren’t confident you can win with what you have, even if that character earns you the ire of the community. -
Adapt. Always be sure to change your habits in the game. If your opponent starts to wise up to what you’re doing, do something different. Likewise, if your opponent starts developing a pattern, take advantage of it. If you seem them consistently going for first frame breakers, use Opener>Linker or a Counter Breaker to get an easy lockout and some beefy damage. Opponent keeps trying to DP on wake up? Block it and punish them with a full combo. Stuff like that.
Hope these help.

And this ^^^
These are great way to start getting better. Also when you start to loose more than 3 in a row… take a break and go play in Shadow labs or another game entirely. Come back when you have a positive frame of mind. Playing Ranked while salty and negative really hinders your performance.
Also , unless you are actually matched up against a Killer… you cant blame a qualifier as if they are an Ex Killer.
