Mortal Kombat 11

You’re most welcome to disagree :).

One of the great things about NetherRealms Studios is that they do listen to their fan base (despite people saying the contrary), and if a character is requested enough, odds are we’ll see them at some point (usually as DLC).

Havik and Sareena are indeed heavily requested, but not Meat and Daegon.

Reptile, Mileena, and Ermac are far cooler and have much larger fan bases than those 3D era characters though.

For Bo’Rai Cho, mostly everyone. Competitively, he was low tier, though I know you don’t play competitively.

And no, it won’t feel foolish at all. I’m commenting on the game, and its roster, as it stands now. If they do add either Sektor or Cyrax as DLC, that would be most welcome.

As of right now though, if you want to play a Lin Kuei Cyber Ninja in Mortal Kombat 11, Frost is it.

Honestly, Frost made me so happy when I saw her. I love the cyber ninjas and Frost was one of my most wanteds so it’s like instead of giving he brownies and cookies they gave me delicious brookies and I love how they did her.

As always when this is mentioned, I feel compelled to relay how intensely I don’t want this to happen :joy:

You and I typically diverge very heavily on all things roster, but I actually tend to agree that many 3D characters have potential. Ashrah was really cool, ditto Onaga and Nitara and Sareena, whose lore alone makes for a lot of strong design options. NRS is a much better studio at present than they were in the 3D era, so I’d be pretty interested to see what they could do with some of their more forgotten characters. Tremor was indeed a crappy character from a crappy game, and look what they were able to do for him in X. For that matter, look what they were able to do with Tanya or Sindel, who were both pretty terrible in their debut titles. I’d like to see modern NRS continue to take cracks at some of the roster from the 3D era.

With respect to Injustice 3, I think we’ll see one eventually, but doubt that it’ll be anytime particularly soon. I’m betting on a new Shaolin Monks game for NRS’ next title, and then after that we’ll probably see them revisit the Injustice universe.

I’m glad we can agree on this! I really hope they do more of this in the future.

But why? They have said a lot of times that they like to switch from one title to the other to give them a brake from the style of each and allow them to come up with new ides over longer periods of time. If that’s true, then why would they jump from one MK project to another?

I would love to play a new Shaolin Monks game, but truthfully, I think they should farm it out to another studio like the Dynasty Warriors team or PlatinumGames.

I mean, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but they just feel made for each other to me.

They may not jump into a new MK Game. For all we know they could be making a completely new project for all we know.

If they are… I hope it’s something interesting that makes skipping DC appreciation in a Marvel biased world worth it.

It could be something that has nothing to do with either.

Just got the last of the Krypt heads and opened all the chests in the throne room. Pretty sure I have done everything there now, so I guess it’s a matter of paying to restock chests until everything is unlocked… which could take a while.

I know. I’m just saying, they have to make skipping Injustice worth it.

Remember the info we have may not be true. So don’t assume the worse.

I’m not sure where, but for some reason I recall Ed Boon saying something about really wanting to make a title not in the FG space. Given the cult status of Shaolin Monks and the way MK11 ended, taking another crack at that “universe” makes sense to me. The pieces are all set, and the franchise is popular enough (MK11 is still being actively played/showcased) that this would be a good time to strike while the MK iron is hot. There’s also the fact that the MK11 Krypt itself seems like a good trial run for an adventure/labyrinth world…I tend to think it likely that they used the environment and mechanics to build and test out some worldbuilding/adventuring tools.

Batman and Superman are eternal properties - there is never a “bad” time to release products related to them. Injustice 3 is virtually guaranteed IMO, but the timing can easily afford to be pushed out a year or three without it being a problem.

So when MK11 first came out I started THE GAUNTLET because I wanted the Liu Kang skin you got for completing all 30 stages. I became annoyed at stage 14 and stopped that goal.

I decided to start off where I finished because after the last patch it became the easiest way to get the new Jinsei Essence Augments IMO. You basically get one for every character you fight in a tower.

Maybe it’s because I’ve done so many towers on Brutal difficulty but OH MY GOTH… I finished it finally. The games been out over a year but I now finally have the Fire God.

I’d love a modern, Mortal Kombat action/adventure game.

Congrats on finishing The Gauntlet! I got frustrated on Stage 3 and never bothered since!

Is that what Shaolin monks was? I thought it was like a hack n slash. If that’s true then I want it way less now.

It was more of a hack and slash, but I just feel like they’ll want to expand on it a fair amount :man_shrugging:t5:

Please no. Hack n slash is basically a dead genre. God of War abandoned us. Don’t let this abandon us too. Combo based over the top action with linear levels and little puzzles. Please. We don’t need more Dark Souls and we don’t need more Skyrim.

I mean, I doubt it’d be even remotely similar to either of those…

There was i time I would have said that about God of War. But it’s like shooters in the 2000s, except nobody seems to hate this trend.

Still concerned for I3? how about this?

That’s a yay from me! Well… a cautious yay. Hopefully it’s not the MK11 of the franchise. But it’s still good and hopefully this proves that most of those 4-Chan leeks are bunk.
