Mortal Kombat 11

Coop towers AI is also super weak to late jump ins. I basically won my 3 last towers just spaming J. 4. For whatever reason, it never anti airs or block it properly

Yeah it took me a while to convince my brother of this. He’s not a student of competitive fighters and the idea that Kabal has plus frames after this move was not intuitive to him (even though he got blown up every time for hitting a button). It’s hard to be patient when you are taking so much chip, but if you are patient and consistent eventually he will gift you with a couple of straight up runs in a row and it balances out. Still, when we beat him it was a “one touch” situation.

Yeah I find this is generally true. It didn’t seem to work very well against Kabal so maybe on the higher AI difficulties they catch on. Or maybe I just don’t hit the jump in late enough. I have a heck of a hard time doing jump in combo starters in this game. I don’t know if it’s me or Shao Khan but I have to go to practice mode and sort some of that out one of these days.

You have to input the buttons of your grounded combo when you are still in the air, if you wait until you land to do it, the combo wouldn’t work

Once you get used to it, goes pretty easy

Did they adjust the fatalities required for getting a head down to 25 or was that just a dream I had?

Yeah, they did it some time ago.

Right now I’m only missing 4 heads

Those few days off from work two weeks ago where I got to play lots of mk11, already feel like ages ago. Crazy busy at work that I sometimes can’t remember if mk11 is a game I still needed to buy :joy: cannot wait for July when I have my next break. Hopefully I can play Shang Tsung and see what he is all about.

I have four and just didn’t know it.

Did they lower the cost of the 10,000 soul orb item in the forest to 1,000?

yes… and the heads are 25 now. THose are the 2 i recall changing that has helped me in the krypt

Oh. Really. Have they done anything to fix the towers?

Is it just me or does the animation for Shang Tsung shooting the first skull look kinda weak?

Guessing you didn’t watch Combo Breaker last week, she was a commentator there with Tyler on Day 2 I believe. But you said you have bad internet before so I guess it’s understandable.

But back to Shang Tsung, I do find it interesting how even after Kronika’s defeat everyone is still fighting for the hourglass. And in Shang’s case the Ermac ending in MKX is not the canon they went for, instead he was locked away by Kronika herself (and freed when she got beaten). Really makes me wonder how the other DLCs will exist in the story at this point.

I’m still watching the video so I’ll talk about the gameplay later.

EDIT: Watched the whole video, he looks okay. I can see a lot of people only using the variation with the ninja transformations, but having his MK3 fireballs as a variation was a nice touch. Also his outfit from the movie is a cosmetic option, really good reference there.

I don’t usually watch the tournaments. Not because I have bad internet, but because I just get frustrated with them. I feel like competitive play hurts the game for casuals. But that’s besides the point.

As for Shang’s story. I don’t think they really thought about that to well. I think they just made up something quick so Stephanie could do a lore minute. I mean, the world ended after that campaign’s ending. So how can they all still be fighting. It makes no sense. Unless the vs matches take place in a timeless void where fragments of this and other timeless that have ended just co-exist because they don’t exist anymore, like some sort of land of the lost.

As for his moves, this is a character I really wanna get in there and mix up his moveset. See what fits. Normally I just use tournament standard, but I care about Shang enough to want to see what feels right. He has lots of cool looking tools and I just want to really get in there and see what I actually like.

I don’t like his Fatal Blow though. I know shapeshifting is his thing, but as a result it just feels… not like him. As someone who actually prefers the soul magic and fireballs, I would have preferred that be the focus. I like how they have him a few MKDC moves ;). That game will never die! Injustice vs. Mortal Kombat please.

Well I feel that both competitive and casual play can be equally harmful if not balanced correctly; SF5 was a perfect example of the former, and countless arena fighters of the latter.

As for the story: Nope, if you watched the 3+ hours of intro dialogues on Youtube there are many characters who talk about the defeat of Kronika, including Shao Khan. Honestly just watch Shao Khan’s dialogues for the cliff notes version, but it does feel like the timelines have been straight-up shattered or merged by Kronika’s madness (much like Sub-Zero’s and Raiden’s intro dialogues in Injustice 2).

Also if MKvsDC2 ever happens they should just make it a tag fighter. They’ve been teasing tag mechanics ever since Injustice 1 but have refused to outright bring the mode back because of balance reasons (can’t completely blame them though, MK9’s tag mode made UMvC3 look balanced). But if it’s main mode is tag-based then that problem would go away. Also they could have a 1v1 mode as an option, like how Dissidia NT lets you do 1v1s in lobbies.

I’m mostly speaking as someone who likes console exclusive guest characters and larger roster sizes in general. Two things the competitive scene dislikes, so they just don’t happen anymore.

Really? That feels careless. I guess the vs matches are non cannon anyway but… that just feels sloppy. I guess my timeless void thing has a bit of credence to it.

I could get behind a tag mode in IvMK. Could make the gameplay stand out a bit from a standard Injustice affair. I’ve never really cared for the idea, but I know some people like it.

Even casuals don’t like those things anymore; I’ve seen a lot of people who don’t like dividing the community with system exclusives, or large rosters that have a high chance of clone characters. Just shows that times have changed, didn’t think it would happen in my lifetime though.

The timeline does feel like it’s going the route of another game I played recently. At this rate MK11’s story will make the same amount of sense (i.e. None whatsoever).

Also 2v2 or 3v3? I think 2v2 would work the best, 3v3 tends to be too chaotic when not balanced properly (and very few are).

I don’t care about split player bases. I just want to play as Sweet Tooth in Mortal Kombat! And he’s never gonna be on other people’s systems.

Probably 2v2. 3v3 would be too chaotic and it really mesh with the tone of either series. Maybe use the idea of cannon partners for arcade mode like SFxT.

That’s the scrubbiest thing I’ve heard all day.
