Late to the party

Yes I’m late to the Killer Instinct 2013 party, but I’m getting in to this version of Killer Instinct, also I’ve been playing the older Killer Instinct games and have got mixed opinions on my replays of this series of games and was wondering how everyone rates these games including the latest one?! This is what i think: Lets start with Killer Instinct 1 Classic on Xbox One; This one i actually thought was pretty decent and a reasonable port on the Xbox One, the game does feel like it did in the arcade to a pretty high degree, obviously its not an exact recreation of that arcade experience, but it is there, the nostalgia that is and thats important I think, so I’d say this is above average but not perfect, there were quite a lot of negative reviews on the Micrsoft store saying things like its too hard/difficult and there are not enough settings and features etc, it is really hard thats true but there are probably enough basic settings and features although yes there could be more, but it is a quite close version of the arcade so that should be commended, we need a moves list though that is true and definate, overall not bad though, 4/5.

Killer Instinct 2 Classic; True to the arcade again, I just think this game is frankly not as instant as the original, I thought that all those years ago in the arcade and I still think that, remember though this is on just one replay and is also my opinion, I think it is just not as special as the original, that may sound strange, let me explain, the first time i saw and heard the original Killer Instinct arcade cabinet in the 90’s it blew me away, its in my opinion a top ten game of all time especially when thinking about everything, like overall quality, graphics(especially for the time), gameplay, music, sound effects, the whole package, the Killer Instinct 1 classic arcade cabinet had it all! I think anyway, it stood out over most other fighting games at that time and other arcade games and games in general really, it had something special, it was an impressive experience overall and it was original and unique, yes Street Fighter 2 was before and helped pave the way, but games like Killer Instinct and Tekken also took that idea and evolved it, ran with it and frankly took it to the next level, basically the Killer Instinct 1 classic arcade cabinet looked incredible, especially for the time! KI 2 made it bigger and better and all that, but lost something, that imidiate thing, that wow factor, I just feel it was not as big an accomplishment and achievement as the first and I still do think that actually, thats a pretty big ask though to surpass all of what i mentioned above with the second, so its not bad and it does grow the idea, I just think it lacked the wow factor of the original.3/5

Killer Instinct Gold on the Rare Replay package; This just didn’t work for me, it played so much better on the N64, I don’t know if its the controls and controller or what, it just didn’t play as well, so that ruined the experience for me, yeah, this sucked a bit actually as I was looking forward to this one as well because i liked the N64 version a lot, thats a shame, the game is kinda similar to KI2 arcade though so maybe I’ll just stick with that, its the port, it just doesn’t work as well on the Xbox, oh well, wheres that N64 mini console plug and play with of course Killer Instinct Gold on it then, heres hoping anyway, HD and all that! Please! 2/5.

There was the SNES version of the first KI and a Gameboy version also, but thats on old tech or Nintendo Switch business like the N64’s KI Gold(is that on Switch?). The SNES version wasn’t bad for a 16 bit games console version but it was stripped down from the original arcade cabinet version and wasn’t as impressive but a good try on inferior software and hardware I suppose, I’d give that a 4/5 also, but taking away some of the content even though they had to with the less powerful system the game lacks again some of the wow factor the original arcade version had, a good effort though, so props to Nintendo. The kings though in my opinion at this point are Killer Instinct 1 Classic Arcade on an arcade cabinet from back in the day or teleported back to back in the day(5/5), lol, Killer Instinct Gold on an original N64(5/5), and Killer Instinct 2013 on Xbox One(5/5), the gameboy version tried, but ultimately it didn’t quite work on inferior software and hardware, actually its not that bad though considering its on the Gameboy!

Please let me know what you lot think and how i can get my hands on a N64 and Killer Instinct Gold and a TV that supports that i suppose?! Lol, or will there ever be a reissue of the N64 in any proper way, I hear theres an Analog one on the way but where’s the Nintendo one?! Come on sort it out, we’ve had the NES and SNES min’s, sort it out Nintendo! Lol! Safe!
