Killer Rank Stinks

Been a long time how’s everybody doing? I figure a lot of you will recognize the gamertag. Haven’t posted in ages. I’ve been playing since season 1. Still play almost daily. With 156 days 5 hours and 50 minutes of time played it’s safe to say I’m addicted.

Okay now to the meat and potatoes of the topic. Unfortunately all these years later killer rank has become not fun. I’m going to do my best to explain why in hopes that one day they’ll be another game or maybe a patch for this one that could possibly fix this issue.
I consider myself a casual. Sure the time played says otherwise but it’s because I really enjoy the game.
Everybody has their play style. Some people are really hardcore into one or two characters and man they are good with them. Others have a handful that they’re excellent with. Which I think is awesome if you can learn a character’s in and out so good that you can stick me in a corner and dominate the whole time and I don’t know what’s going on you’re obviously better than me. There is one of the biggest problems with the killer rank currently. There are a lot of high-end Killers still playing. They’ll consistently dominate the leaderboards on Xbox. We all know their names.

That’s where one of the issues lie. There are people who play who most others could never beat.
If you’re good like myself and you make it to killer rank it then becomes a place where you have to play your best character. If you haven’t got a character ranked up or you haven’t played them in 5 years but you want to mess with them again a lot of those high-end killers are completely unforgiving. They do not care if you lose because they want to win. I get it the point of the match is to win.

However obviously that takes a layer of fun out of the game if your skill level doesn’t match theirs yet you’re constantly matched with them of course you’re not going to want to play anymore.

I’ve heard the arguments over the years. Well if you want to play casual go to exhibitions or open a lobby. Honestly I never liked that argument. People don’t want to play the same person over and over whether it’s a lobby or exhibitions. It was that way in 2013 with other games.
People still to this day used ranked play as the casual way to play.
We’ve all seen it somebody who’s completely brand new to the game whether on Xbox or steam and they go straight to ranked play to try to play other people.
Then they get dominated by people like me who’ve been playing for years and of course they don’t want to play anymore.
God forbid they’re actually good at fighters make it all the way through all the ranks and get to Killer.
If they do they’re eventually going to get smacked around by people who are just the top of the top.

You guys get where I’m coming from I’m a casual player who really likes to play every character but doesn’t like to be just absolutely destroyed by the best players.

They’ve earned their rank and their status. Definitely not discounting how good they are.

Some possible solutions or ideas for the next game?

The moment you have a star next to your name you should never connect to anyone else other than a Killer rank. If you have a star you’re obviously really good with at least one character which means you dominate the leaderboard and you can destroy a gold a silver or any other rank.
If you’re new to the game it’s really unfair to see that even if you’re just a gold trying to figure stuff out.

There should be an option to either just stay gold or reset the moment you become uncomfortable with being a Killer. I know the option is there every month but think about it you become a killer you get stuck in the corner four or five matches in a row. So of course you take a break for a few days relax the mind and fingers then you come back and it happens again and so you decide well I’m never going to play this game again cuz there are definitely people who don’t know you can reset once a month.

For the past year I’ve reset monthly. The moment I do I meet new people who are trying to learn and the game becomes fun again until I make it to Killer.
It only takes me a couple days to get the Killer.

Then I’m going right up against the top of the top the people who always destroy me and I get fed up. I’ve recently just started sitting down the controller and letting them have their fun. Which obviously isn’t fun for me and it wastes their time.

As a casual I feel like gold is really where I belong don’t get me wrong I am good with a few characters but I like to mess around I’ve always been that way I like every character in this game and I want to be able to pick them from time to time and not worry about this person is going to just destroy me every time I see them.

As a gold I’ll see a killer every now and again. Then I don’t mind at least trying to win. I’m not having to go in full bore every single match I can relax and mess with the character.

Sorry it was so ranty but I am passionate about this game and would love to see things change in the future whenever that future may be.

Of course I hope Microsoft one day either continues to add to this Killer instinct or allows some team to make another one.

Hoping they can make things more casual friendly. 40th birthday is this year and the way things go with this franchise I’ll probably be 60 before the next one comes out.

I still love this community and game. If any of you top Killers see this please consider the fact that we want this franchise to continue and if you dominate every single person you see they will not have fun and then they will not want to come back.

I’m sure there are people better than you and you’ve had it happen to you at some point it’s just not a fun thing. So again please consider backing off or maybe throwing on a mic and offering to teach the newcomers how to play.

There’s always been a lot of passionate people in this community but just with any community there are going to be a handful of people who are well you know.
