"Killer Instinct" Community Project

Out of curiosity, how many of you would be interested in doing some type of KI Community Project?

What did you have in mind?

Well, I was thinking something along the lines of like, say, either a community-made comic, video, animated series, or perhaps some type of anthology collection featuring different stories based on or around KI’s characters. Either character-specific or based on something within its dark dystopian world, perhaps even going so far as to use original characters that potentially could exist within said-world. For example, one story deals with Jago’s crisis of faith, another deals with Glacius’ more alien perspective, a third story could be a more humorous parody/satire of corporate greed, while a fourth deals with characters from previous tournaments who either had won or had lost. Another could be analogue-styled horror about Ultratech’s experiments. Maybe a comical story about the poor janitor who is given the thankless task of cleaning up after every match lol. Maybe even stories about some of the cancelled/rejected characters, or even something from the comics or the card game. Different stories and different genres, all of them based on or around some aspect within KI, either with characters from the games, or original creations who could potentially exist within said-world.

Interesting. So community fan fiction?

Oddly enough. Back when KI 2013 kept announcing characters, every time I listed to their theme songs, I could almost picture an “animated story” of sorts unfold with each one. Something like Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555 more or less. Just with KI.

Where the music tells the story, with animation helping to complement it.

Jago’s would be him training at the Tiger Temple meditating as we see inside his mind as well his past that lead to that point, the chants from his theme song would be from actual monks singing on the sidelines as he performs his katas. Then, ending with him leaving the temple to begin his journey against an ancient evil. Showcasing his determination to right all wrongs.

Sabrewulf’s theme showcasing his past as a famous monster hunter, only for vicious flashes to current time where he’s already lost his humanity. Thereby Jago, still wandering from the first episode, winds up at the small village that fears a monster by the Von Sabrewulf Manor. Thus begins the fight between Jago and Sabrewulf as the castle burns to the ground from both knocking candles over. Jago emerges victorious, as the people cheer him for killing said beast, but by the end, Sabrewulf still survived via an end teaser.

Cinder’s would’ve been a hype match centered around TJ vs Cinder (homaging his reveal trailer monolog.) , over a giant cage above the lava pit inside Furys Core. Orchid and Jago attempt to infiltrate UT industries, just before Sadira intercepts. But eventually Glacius would come to the finish as both him and Cinder fight to the death as the place becomes supernova, ending with a massive explosion as Glacius and Cinder knock eachother blow after blow. Jago, TJ, and Orchid managing to escape before it detonates. Ending the episode as they retrieved what they needed.

Then with Omen’s, the “Season 2” finale, all heroes arrived at the Tiger Temple during the daytime, just before the skies become night, all while Jago becomes possessed by the evil entity, becoming Shadow Jago. Thunder, Maya, Orchid, TJ among other heroes try to fight him as the music plays, only to be absolutely decimated. Jago, inside his own consciousness, is trapped under the shadows as he watches himself destroy all who’ve helped him along his journey. Before Omen finally breaks free from his body, leading to phase 2.

Then during 3:55 within Omen’s theme song, all seems lost. Jago watches helplessly as everyone is beaten, Omen standing above all, but then Jagos anger begins taking hold as he sees his sister held by the neck, when the music explodes at 4:35, so does Jago. Awakening the True Tiger Spirit within. Omen calls his bluff, as both fighters begin to stare eachother down before the final blow is struck, Jago charges and with fluent speed, performs a Tiger Uppercut directly into Omens mask, causing it to shatter. By breaking it, broke the will to stay present in this world, causing Omen to vanish.

The end shot, shows all heroes rising up, as the dark skies begin to shine a bright blue sky above the Tigers Lair, moving past the darkness. As we end with all heros making their stand, whenever Gargos returns, they will be ready to fight.

The final scene shows Omen inside the dark void, kneeling before his master in defeat, as we see brief glimpses of Gargos hand over his throne. Vowing that this was only the beginning, leading to Season 3.

Idk, just something Ive had a lot of time thinking about in regards to “fan-related stories”. Only reason I never went through with those stories was due to my lack of animation skills. Would’ve loved to make them a reality for others to see. But, it is what it is.

That could be a fun story. Knowing the original KI comics, I could see that happening behind the scenes after every fight.

Exactly. Or some type of fan-created comic, animation, fan film, fan game or something.

That would be cool.

Understandable. Still, it would be encouraging to see what people within the KI community can do, especially considering the various phenomenal fan works that have been created for titles such as “Five Nights At Freddy’s”, “Lethal Company”, “Resident Evil” and others.

“The Keeper’s Diary”, for instance, is one such passion project among many:

LOL I can picture the janitor’s reaction to cleaning Riptor’s Bloody Arena from KI1. “This some bull s hit!”

Let’s see what else you guys can come up with. KI is a rich series with no shortage of possible stories to tell, and the more stories the better!
