Head Tracking?

Will head tracking ever return?

I know it was turned off since it was being screwy, but would it be a feature that could possible come back? I feel KI would benefit from a little TLC. What do you think?

Head tracking? What’s that?

You’re not alone in this regard. I’m sure plenty, myself included, would like to see this return.

However, if it causes problems with the game’s function, I would say I could live without it to avoid some weird looking situations. Also, it’s not the biggest issue on the dev team’s plate, so I’d rather them fix the bigger issues, and get more content like ultimates for all characters and new characters out, bugs patched, etc., before going after those small details.

It’s where the character’s head is fixed to look at and keep track of the opponent. In the early season 1 KI build, your character would raise and lower their head to give the impression they were making eye contact with one another. If your opponent started jumping, then their head would move up and down and keep track of them, or as they got closer to one another, characters with height difference would look down on the other character, like Thunder trying to look down at Sadira at point blank range.

They had to disable it for a number of reasons before season 2, namely it was causing problems with some characters, and I imagine since Aganos’ head is fixed in place, it just won’t look right on him.

The reason why the devs removed it was because it started causing issues. Exceptionally sized characters (both goliaths like Aganos and shrimps like Kim Wu) caused some errors.
I could be wrong but I think they confirmed that it’s probably never coming back.

But it was removed before the game even released lol.

Thank you @ironflame and @fwufikins. That answered my questions makes perfect sense. I can agree that there would be little need for head tracking. It serves little purpose other then being a nicity.

agreed

I would love to see the game get TLC. I don’t think head tracking is really necessary though. I’ve never had anyone say “it looks so weird that their heads don’t move around.” Plus in real life you track with your eyes and move your head only subtly or if there is extreme motion to follow. So having their heads bobbling around all the time isn’t going to look right…
