Good monitor for gaming?

What are some good, reasonably priced gaming monitors? Does anybody here use them? Are they worth buying? I have a small tv I keep on the side I use specifically for gaming but its about time to replace it so I thought I might as well get a monitor since I have been gaming more than I have in years and have been giving it my all to gitgud at fighters recently.

I know a monitor won’t make me a better player, but I plan on putting in work and hopefully one day gitgud enough to start playing at a local scene and/or events. So I would like to go ahead and get used to something similar to what people at local scenes and tourneys use.

Throw me some recommendations

I dont know about regular monitors but the Gaems portable monitors are really good and have really good Refresh rate or whatever its called. I have one and its perfect for travel or home.

Your Xbox/PS fits inside it like a suitcase for travel and it protects everything really well.

They are 150-250- $ depending on the style/size.

Mine is 17.5 inch screen. they have a really cool SFV version out now as well.

Yo those backpack things are cool af! So it’s like a take your console anywhere and play set up…that is amazing lol

I might have to look into one of those too for whenever I am traveling or something, thanks man!

Yes it is and its perfect! They also have regular monitors too!

Infil looked mine up and said the refresh rate/stats were great…like right were you want it to be. I have the Vangaurd…I believe its sales for 159$ now…but its a couple years old… wasnt designed for Xbox one but mine fits in it.

the new ones are so much better…they have thin tablet style ones too!

Oh really? Awesome dude, ill have to look into everything they have and see what’s up. I am going try and grab a regular styled monitor for now, then probably look into the ontheroad style thing they have a bit later (I didn’t know such things existed lol, fn awesome!) because something like that would be just perfect for traveling. That is next on my list haha

Check this link - monitors are sorted by least display lag. ASUS has some very reasonably priced options with excellent latency.

Awesome, thanks man!

I have been reading that the BenQ RL2460HT is a really solid monitor for the price, but I think its a couple years old.

Yeah it’s tough sometimes to find the older monitors online. Sometimes you’ll get lucky on ebay or amazon.

I’ll be picking another one up soon myself - right now I’m using an old Sceptre monitor that isn’t bad latency wise but could be better. A difference between it and the ASUS monitors in use @ CEO was definitely noticeable.

Yeah luckily Amazon still has that one in stock, but idk if its outdated or not lol

You wouldn’t happen to know what model they were using at CEO, would you?

Unfortunately I do not :frowning:

Perhaps @GoogleMyName can help

The VS278 and VX238H are both nice looking and reasonably priced options

Awesome, ill check them out a bit. I just read about the VS278 on amazon and it does sound great, and its a good price as well. Thank you!

I hope you find a great monitor!

I absolutely LOVE gaming on my 50" Sharp flatscreen

Thank you!

I actually played on my big screen for the first time the other day for the SFV story mode and it was nice, I could actually hear the music and everything lmao I have spoiled myself though lol last black friday I got a steal on a small LG tv and have been gaming on that thing next to the big screen hehe

Do you have any preferences in terms of gaming monitors? I am open to any and all suggestions

I hate that I am now “that guy” but a low latency monitor will definitely impact your game. For KI it won’t mean much except when you are doing manuals, breakers and counter breakers. It’s amazing how much easier a medium break is when you have just 2-3 extra frames to react… But you will immediately notice that your jump kick timing is completely different based on when you need to hit the button compared to what you are looking at on screen. It won’t make you a better player but it definitely lets you do things more easily. I find it really makes breaking shadows way more logical.

Anyway I got an ASUS VE278H 27" monitor for my KI setup. It’s $199 on Amazon. It’s great for latency and the picture looks fantastic - particularly on brightly lit stages. When you are looking at black backgrounds you can tell that the blacks are not as deep as on a nice TV but otherwise the picture quality is very good. As a plus, this monitor is VESA mount compatible if you want to mount it on a wall or (in my case) in an arcade cabinet.

Nice, thank you for the input! Yeah I have heard that it can help with a few small things like the things you mentioned, I imagine w.e it is a lot better than a regular 24in LG tv hahaha

I will check out that monitor on amazon asap! That is about where I want to be in terms of price, I don’t think I want to spend more than $300 on one so $199 sounds great haha

Are you satisfied with it for the most part? I can read what people say on amazon but I trust you guys here a lot more than random people on amazon haha

I’m really happy with it. Like I said, if you are obsessed over the blackest blacks you might notice that. But it’s only when you have an all or mostly black screen. Black/white contrast and the overall color/display quality is fantastic. And, most importantly, it’s very low latency which is why I bought it.

Awesome. I am not too worried about that, I am not all that picky when it comes to colors and stuff. That is great that you like it, ill have to add that to my list of stuff to check out, thanks!
