Arbiter mix ups

You are welcome.

I also have posted this video in another topic about Arbiter.

There are some impressive mix ups as well.

The good thing with the regular throw after flip out, is that it is safer and allows you to throw your opponent back to the center of the stage, if you wish so.
Consequently, I have edited my original post to include your suggestion :slight_smile:

Edit: I have editing this first message regarding the advances I make on the character. Look up below!.

Here’s a little secret for you guys:

You can flipout off the Mercy’s Demise Ender, too.

I honestly hardly ever use the mercys demise ender, unless I have a nade on someone mid combo and need to launch them for a recap.

HI guys.

Just to say, that I’m preparing a big Arbiter strategy guide including set ups, mix ups and vortex, anti airs, tricks and manual combos.

I still have to lab some stuff

Hope you will like it.

Hi guys!
I’m back with some nice stuff, as promised. I have worked on Arbiter’s vortex.
For this first part, I worked on the throw set ups (no corner throw).
As much as possible, I tried to include 3 Grenades vortex.
Keep in mind that they are examples. You can mix them up to create your own stuff.
I HAVE TESTED THEM ALL plenty of times to make sure you can perform them!
I HAVE TESTED THEM ALL after the April 27th update. A few of my previous set ups don’t work anymore because of some tiny Grenade and Energy Shield adjustments.

  • Free combo, means that you can perform a custom combo to finish the vortex.

  • Be aware that the timing is sometimes REALLY tight and specific, you may need lots of tries to perform some of the follow ups.

  • Look at the Notes, for further tips!

  • Here is Arbiter’s move list if you need it: http://forums.ultra-combo.com/t/arbiter-command-list/7221

                           Set up: throw > Grenade 1

No Instinct, no Shadow move:

Follow up 1)
mp Mercy’s Demise whiff ; cr. fwd. hk meaty > lp Truth Seeker > hp Mercy’s Demise > Grenade 2 ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; frw. mk > Prophet’s Bane ; Grenade 3 ;
Grenade 2 recapture ; lp Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (10 hits ; 38%) ;
free combo
Notes: One of my favorites. If your opponent blocks low, he will surely get hit by the Truth Seeker overhead.

Follow up 2)
Empty vertical jump ; walk ; fwd. hk meaty (overhead) > lp Mercy’s Demise > hp Mercy’s Demise > Grenade 2 ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; fwd mk > Prophet’s Bane ; Grenade 3 ;
Grenade 2 recapture ; fwd mk > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (10 hits ; 38%) ;
free combo
Notes: the “Empty vertical jump ; walk” will allow you to be at the best distance to perform the safest overhead. You will need a little practice to figure it out.

Follow up 3)
Empty jump fwd. ; cross up mk ; light auto double > hp Mercy’s Demise > Grenade 2
Grenade 1 recapture ; lp Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ; Grenade 3 ;
Grenade 2 recapture ; lp Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (11 hits ; 35%) ;
free combo
Notes: Perform the cross up mk as early as possible during the second jump.

Including Shadow move:

Follow up 4 )
mp Mercy’s Demise whiff ; cr. frd hk meaty ; target combo mp-mp > Energy Shield ;
Grenade 1 recapture (4 hits ; 10%) ;
free combo

Follow up 5 )
lp Mercy’s Demise whiff ; cr. mk meaty > Mercy’s Demise > Energy shield ; hp ;
Grenade 1 recapture (4 hits ; 12%) ;
free combo
Notes: Tight timing after Energy Shield!

Follow up 6)
lp Mercy’s Demise whiff ; cr. mk meaty > Mercy’s Demise > Energy Shield/Instinct ; hp ; Grenade 2 ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; mp > lp Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ; Grenade 3
Grenade 2 recapture ; fwd. mk > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (11 hits ; 38%) ;
free combo
Notes: Advanced stuff! Very tight timing. Be very quick!

Including Instinct:

Follow up 7)
mp Mercy’s Demise whiff ; cr. frd hk meaty ; cr. mk > Mercy’s Demise > Instinct ;
Grenade 1 recapture (4 hits ; 11%) ;
free combo
Notes: If your opponent blocks high, he will probably take the cr. mk.

Follow up 8)
mp Mercy’s Demise whiff ; cr. frd hk meaty ; target combo lp-lk > Instinct ;
Grenade 1 recapture (4 hits ; 8%) ;
free combo

There we go guys!
I’m not pretending to have created the best stuff here, but I hope you will find it helpful!
I have more set ups for different situations, but you will have to wait a bit more :slight_smile:

Feel free to tell me what you think!

I honestly don’t know why these are practical. Most of these use all three grenades.

I honestly don’t know what point you are trying to make.

Nothing imposes you to use the 3 Grenades at the same time. It is up to you to manage how you want to use them.

I’m just showing the possibilities.

Point taken.

Hi guys!
I’m back again with new Arbiter’s vortex!
For this second part, I worked on the corner throw set ups.
As much as possible, I tried to include the 3 Grenades vortex.
I HAVE TESTED THEM ALL, after the April 27th update, plenty of times to make sure you can perform them!

One more time:

  • Free combo, means that you can perform a custom combo to finish the vortex.

  • Be aware that the timing is sometimes REALLY tight and specific, you may need lots of tries to perform some of the follow ups.

  • Look at the Notes, for further tips!

  • Here is Arbiter’s move list if you need it: http://forums.ultra-combo.com/t/arbiter-command-list/7221

                     Set up: Corner throw > Grenade 1

No Instinct ; no Shadow move

Vortex 1)
flip out target combo lp-lk ; Prophet’s Bane ; Grenade 2 ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ; Grenade 3
Grenade 2 recapture ; fwd mk > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (8 hits 36%) ;
free combo

Vortex 2)
flip out target combo lp-lk or lk > mp Truth Seeker (overhead) ; cr. lk > lp Mercy’s Demise > hp Mercy’s Demise ; Grenade 2 ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; fwd mk > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 2 recapture ; Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (11 hits 36%) ;
free combo
Notes: Make sure lp Mercy’s Demise, during the first part of the combo, is 1 hit only (not 4)!

Vortex 3)
flip out target combo lp-lk ; landing throw ; Grenade 2 ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane > Grenade 3 ;
Grenade 2 recapture ; fwd mk > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (10 hits 37%) ;
free combo

Including Shadow move and Instinct

Follow up 4)
flip out lk ; landing throw > Grenade 2 ; Energy shield (wall bound) ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; target combo hp-hp > lp Mercy’s Demise > hp Mercy’s Demise ; Grenade 3
Grenade 2 recapture ; fwd. mk > Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture ; Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ; 3 shots carabine
(18 hits ; 44%)

Follow up 4 bis)
flip out lk ; landing throw > Grenade 2 ; Energy shield (wall bouce) ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; target combo hp-hp > lp Mercy’s Demise ; hp Mercy’s Demise ; Grenade 3
Grenade 2 recapture ; Mercy’s Demise ; Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture ; Shadow Mercy’s Demise ; Prophet’s Bane ; 3 shots carabine
(23 hits ; 57%)
Notes: Tricky stuff here! Energy Shield has to hit the opponent to make him wall bounce.

Follow up 5)
flip out lp-lk ; cr. mk > lp Mercy’s Demise > Energy shield/Instinct; hp ; (back) Grenade 2
Grenade 1 recapture ; fwd mk > Prophet’s Bane ; Grenade 3
Grenade 2 recapture ; Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ;
Grenade 3 recapture (11 hits 42%) ;

  • cr. fwd hk ; mk > Prophet’s Bane ; 3 shots carabine (17 hits 59%)
  • cr. fwd hk ; mk > Shadow Mercy’s Demise > Prophet’s Bane ; 3 shots carabine (23 hits 74%)
    Notes: For this one, I give 2 ways to finish, regarding on your ressources.

Follow up 6) NEW NEW NEW
flip out lp-lk ; mp Truth Seeker ; medium auto double > hp Mercy’s Demise ; Grenade 2 ;
Grenade 1 recapture ; cr. mk > Mercy’s Demise ; Energy Shield ; hp > Mercy’s Demise ;
Grenade 2 recapture ; cr. fwd hk > Prophet Bane ; 3 shots carabine (17 hits ; 49%)
Notes: A powerful follow up, as it needs only one Shadow meter and 2 Grenades.
You can add a Shadow Mercy’s Demise after cr. fwd hk for more damage (23 hits ; 61%).

There we go guys!
Even if the topic doesn’t seem to be very popular, at least it may be some structured note book for Arbiter’s strategies.

As usual, feel free to tell me what you think!

I need to hop on and practice Arby more. Lol @Lecter2005 thanks for sharing. :slight_smile:

Thank you dude.

Yeah, that’s a lot of stuff here. But once you get the patterns it gets easier to figure out what you can possibly do during a fight.

The bad thing is… I have a bad memory and I get confused sometimes :joy:

Next time, I will work on Truth Seeker’s enders.

I’m probably making it more difficult than it needs to be. I’m trying to find a play style with Arby that’s not too gimmicky. Lol. Have some ideas but haven’t tested them yet.

Watching some of the Texas Showdown and the KVO giving me more ideas to play around with.

I’ve been watching that Arbiter top 8 fights in Texas Shodown 2016 as well, and I’m very surprised.

I was surprised how random are those Arbiter set ups.
I’m sorry to say it cuz’ obviously, I will probably never be in the top 8 of any tournament, but… honestly…

That guy had good spacing/footsies and carabine tricks, but I felt like he had no particular idea of the right timing for the throw and the special grab. He missed a lot of opportunities because of that.

I will share what I’ve found about that kind of stuff very soon.

Oh that was Sleep using Arbiter. He had some nice setups. Arbiter is pretty challenging to use in regards to his grenade and carbine setups. I’ve only seen like maybe 2 or 3 players that had setups which were like holy ■■■■ that’s crazy. Don’t want to get caught in that lol! The timing was amazing.

Hopefully you can see some footage from KVO. I’ve used 2 grenade setups which work like 30%of the time lol but never thought about 3 if one can make it work Ogty did.

Here’s the best tech I can give you guys that you may not know:

  1. You can just barely land a flipout and grenade at the end of truth seeker ender. If you flipout straight into command grab, you’ll need a few carbine shots to get the recap.

  2. The carbine AA, cr. forward HK, is +10 on block and +14 on hit. Meaning it keeps the opponent basically trapped in blockstrings, and you can chain multiple carbine butts on hit and for manuals.

EDIT: One quick tip: If you’re going air-to-air with Glacius or Tusk and they do their long reaching normals, use forward+HK. It basically puts up a lance shield in front of you.

DO you have some vidéos about those players and KVO?

There you go! :slight_smile:

I’m watching it and there are some very interesting stuff.

I think I will make some analysis of Arby’s fights later :slight_smile:
