Is shadow lords the only way to unlock the astral plane? If So then I suspect a large number of players will never get access to this stage…gargos in SL is silly cheee…

After you play the mode for a while and get some Killer guardians and items, Gargos on Challenging isn’t that bad.

Actually, Challenging is pretty difficult at the moment. Max struggled last night to even get to Gargos. Isaac also said they’d be patching the difficulty (server side, so no download for us).

I unlocked the stage on normal during the preview. Did they change it with the retail release?
On Normal it was pretty easy.

Not only is the mode a lot harder on all difficulties, and that you have to unlock it on Challenging or Godlike now, but the Astral Plane is locked for everyone again.

I was watching that last night. Was Max playing on Challenging? To be fair, he’s stayed completely dark on Shadow Lords, and had no idea how it worked. Will be interesting to see some future playthroughs once he and others understand the systems behind it.

Yeah Max wanted to unlock the Astral Plane so he went to Challenging on his first run. I tried out Normal yesterday, and I got bopped super hard, even though I beat Challenging really easily before the update.

Yea i gave up trying to get the stage. I want to play a fighting game not some rpg where i have to craft crap to deal with crap or purchase micro transactions. The stage has no corner markers anyway and poor spacial orientation, so i wont use it to compete. Just a novelty thing I guess

I do think you should still be able to complete normal for the stage, and I wasn’t too pleased it got locked again after I got it in early access.
Mind you, I’m glad I got the Godlike, no death and buffed Gargos achievements in early access. Pour one out for my homies Devastation Beam and Demonic Despair.

I’ll try it in normal, but on the stage select it says you need to beat SL in godlike or challenging.
I have already beat it on normal, and it does not unlock. I did not even know that they locked it again, until I read a post about unlocking in the C-mode

Can you make an option to purchase the Astral Plane with KI Gold? Have it where you don’t get the achievement this way but full use of the stage itself. I think this is a fair compromise for those of us who can’t unlock it for whatever reason. Please consider this idea as I’m sure I’m not the only one judging by the topics related to it.
Once you guys get Killer and Awesome guardians along with good consumables, it isn’t as bad as it seems.
Also, don’t forget to apply artifacts! Believe me, taking and doing 25% less/more damage goes a long way, not to mention that you can apply healing artifacts at the end of the day.
Once you get enough supplies and resources and mix them together for a favorable combination, you’ll end up doing sick stuff!
Example: Nonstop Hype Beam with 25% increased damage from an artifact and infinite shadow moves for 15 seconds with another 25% from the consumable.

You’re right, I was expecting an overall difficulty buff on the game mode and I grinded as crazy a lot of stuff, even with this version of Shadow Lords I still have done a couple of grinding runs to unlock mimic skins and other stuff as well on Normal, plus, since I most of the time challenge myself to do some stuff in the hard way, I also play without using items/Guardians to keep the energy, consumables, etc. for higher difficulty runs and to get good level guardians (I have no more common guardian level now, pretty much going from rare to killer) plus, my YouTube video is a proof that once you have some stuff and the knowledge of how Gargos fights, you can find yourself winning the battle over and over again. But as I say to my friends, enjoy playing the game, and try to not rage (because raging is the first step to go to a bad path when playing, and I can confirm that, my experience of playing games since 1995 have showed me that’s true).

It’s not even a matter of raging, I don’t like playing single player modes and just want the stage to use when I do VS.
It’s a shame really since new stages would be at the top of my list for future content and here is one that I’ll never get to use ATM.

For me the major problem is locking the astral plane stage to one mode, which is shadow lords at the moment. I get it, casual fans love shadow lords, but us people that want to have the stage and just learn matchups and train, I think an alternative method to unlocking would be great.
Please, don’t tell me to “get gud”, I play vs humans that don’t read inputs, I don’t have the time to figure out an exploit to fool the A.I’s

I think i found the exploit and probably the reason why rash has to beat gargos 15 times to unlock his mimic skin . Just get close to omen or gargos and spam the living doo doo out of light punch. They freeze and eventually just let you open them up. Tack on a perfect killer snake guardian and some beastly consumable and you may find yourself getting a perfect against gargos.

Shadow lords Its not difficult at all. You need to learn how to use your guardians and your items. I alredy beat normal and challenge. Its more dificult to fight a killer player like me than shadow lords I.A. Just play the game use those spider bots (health and defense) be smart and play like survival
