If you can react to his roll, I imagine Glacius’ cold shoulder should be able to hit him out of it, similar to Aganos’ natural disaster - it’s been a while since I’ve played Glacius though, so I may be wrong.
unfortunately that’s not an option I’ve tried it multiple times because even if you were to time the attack correctly tj can still grab glacius out of the shoulder rush. I’m gonna still try it again though to see if maybe i’m just not getting it timed right
I’m a Glacius pro. (Self-acclaimed) ![]()
On TJ’s wakeup summon a hail and just do light shatter, or shoulder with the hail behind you to prevent a grab attempt. Though believe it or not, the best option is just to summon a hail and justsit there, or walk forward if you know the guy is patient. If he rolls, grab. If he shoot tosses, puddle punch or jump. Anything else, just walk forward with the hail in front of you like a badass.
i’ll try waiting to see what he’ll do first next time but light shatter usually didn’t go through when i would use it and basically he get a free grab
So, I’ve taken this into the lab for a bit. You can beat TJ’s roll by meatying with something like crLP on wakeup: if he rolls, you’ll recover soon enough to tag him with another crLP, or something else. If you get your execution down, I think you should be able to OS a light shatter into the cancel buffer of the meaty crLP, so that you get a tick shatter if he sits still and can still crLP him at the end of the roll. If you get out a medium hail before his wakeup, that could cover a potential backdash…or maybe you have enough time after the recovery of a whiffed crLP to do fwd+MP instead of another crLP, to catch both a roll and a backdash.
I’m sure you could come up with something better, too. I’ve seen plenty of disgusting wakeup pressure labbed out for Glacius, and whilst I expect there probably is an airtight OS to lock TJ down on wakeup, you’re probably going to want to give that up at least some of the time so that you can capitalize on a TJ player who has been conditioned to sit and block because none of his wakeup gimmicks can get him out of said OS.
I don’t like your chances. I cbf’d looking up any frame data on TJ’s roll right now, but it looks pretty fast, and if it’s less than a third of a second (20 frames) I don’t think there’s much you can do on reaction that’d come out in timely enough of a fashion to matter.
