Tusk's Full Trailer w/ Tease

I would be delighted to see your theory on how vampirism would somehow make Sabrewulf get stucked on his werewolf form. What about vampirism could be the reason for something like that?

Because vampires don’t really “transform” they just are.(well most versions of vampires don’t transform)

Also the whole Frankenstein, Vampire, Werewolf thing amuses me, the iconic silver screen monster trio represented by one character.

Another Theory is that the Sabrewulf family were werewolves at first. But found a cure(sorta) that kept the moon from triggering a transformation, however this “cure” had a flaw it stunts the ability to transform to humans as well. Being scratched or bitten by a werewolf guaranteed an eventual permanent transition. Fearing that their children could be doomed to life in the shadows as monsters. The Sabrewulfs offers up their special concoction to the other werewolves whom not only refused the offer but were insulted by it. The Sabrewulfs was deemed traitors, blasphemers that spat on the wondrous gift that flows freely in the blood of lycan kind. That night the lord Sabrewulf knew they’re not safe, he knew what his only option was.

The reason why he can no longer become a human was totally explained in his back story though. It was all Ultratech’s fault, as usual.

As the rumors of a dark creature spread beyond the isolated villages near his estate, Ultratech took notice. Lured from his home with the promise of a scientific cure, Ultratech experimented on and attempted to weaponize Sabrewulf, replacing his arms with cybernetics and extending his transformations until the cycle was reversed; the man barely materialized, the beast ran wild.

They manipulated his genetics so the already extremely virulent form of lycanthropy began to replace his human DNA. It’s only through his family’s artifact’s (including the Mask of the Ancients) that Sabrewulf can maintain even a shred of sanity, since any part of his psyche that doesn’t belong to the Wulf has been tainted by heavy drug use, Black Magic, and likely post-traumatic-stress disorder from his time both in Ultratech labs as well as the Killer Instinct tournament.

Add on the fact that he himself destroyed the only known cure for lycanthropy in his first transformation, and it looks like poor Wulfy is stuck.

Reversed? He turns human on a full moon?

Possibly. It’s a pretty good implication of the permanent lycanthropy trait. Though he was probably doomed from the start.
See, he got the scratch from a dead werewolf’s claw, right? Well, most werewolves revert back into human form post mortem, death setting them free from their curse. This werewolf was not only so heavily infected that it remained transformed in death, that even after it was long taxidermied it turned him into a slavering beast with a single scratch.
Gotta feel sorry for the poor pup. Every other character has ulterior motives or some meaningful continuation of their story, but poor Sabrewulf only shows up as a punching bag in other campaigns when all he wants is to get better and stop being sick. His continued existence in this franchise only shows that he’s always down on his luck. :sob:

Of course, I think this is going off on a bit of a tangent.
But on the subject of Wulf, I think his stage would be an excellent stage for Mira to default to. It has the classic horror vibe down perfectly, and since it seems like both characters are going to have orchestral themes it makes sense they would be put together.

I guess they thought wulf was going to be the punching bag of the series.

It’s Reptile all over again lol :frowning:

I don’t want Sabrewulf to become like that. Mortal Kombat is so bad about that, having so many characters be nothing but punching bags… I love MK, but that’s just disrespectful to your own creations.

Let’s see we got

The big cheese: ARIA, Gargos
right hands: Cinder, Omen, (and sadira???)
Ultratech army: Fulgores, riptors
Freedom fighters: Orchid, TJ, Maya, Jago, Kim wu (could be more)
The cursed: Wulf, spinal, (hisako?), Glacuis?
The power seek: Kan-ra
The eternal warrior: Aganos
The gargos vanquisher: Tusk
Uknown: Mira

Hopeful for a sort of Jurassic World parody ending for Wulf someday.

“On his estate, Sabrewulf finds a pack of escaped Riptor units. The Alpha challenges him to battle, but with his years of experience and sheer animal ferocity he prevails and destroys the aggressor. The other Riptors are enthralled by this savage display of power, and Wulf’s animal side happily takes notice. A mutual understanding between predators, both torn between savagery and intelligence; the stalkers accept Sabrewulf as their new Alpha, and as he teaches them and elevates them above their primal state into more cunning creatures, he finally starts to feel a sense of belonging, like he’s finally got a home…”

Aye aye aye. Such a wondrous tangent we’ve run off on.
Better bite back into the meat of this topic…
Maybe some gameplay speculation.

So I think I saw @TempusChaoti say something in a tweet along the lines of "new teased character has one of the best jumping heavy kicks in any fighting game, plus other tools and air set ups."
Looks like we’ll have another character with lots of awesome aerial mobility like Sadira or Cinder. In the trailer that looks like a command grab from the air, which is incredibly awesome. Or maybe it’s a pounce in the vein of leaping slash.

Wondering if she’ll get something similar to Wulf’s bat projectile from the old games. Familiars are a very prominent part of vampire fiction and lore, the “creatures of the night” if you will (which may also lead to some comradery between her and Sabrewulf, rather than the typical animosity between vampires and lycanthropes.) Something she has to acquire ala Spinal or Aganos, that act kinda like a toned down version of ARIA’s assists, maybe with some lasting status effects?

Her finger armor leads me to believe she’ll have some clawing attacks, not uncommon in vampires me-thinks.

Also, hope she uses her cape in her blocking, shadow counter, and/or counter breaker animations. It’d be pretty rad.
…and the kid inside me might be hankering for some accessories based on The Hex Girls from Scooby Doo.

I bet there’s gona be some kind of “health retrival ability” like jago’s instinct. Like biting your opponent to gain health back. Does that mean it’s gona work on ARIA, fulgore, spinal, omen and ciner? I mean these characters aren’t exactly fleshy beings…

Kim can throw aganos, I don’t think the bittings too crazy

Eh whatever gameplay reasons here. Yeah, overthought that one.

I was hoping that the Vampire was more on the lines of this.

That looks like a bat…batman?

Dracula from the Van Helsings movie.

Hmmm I don’t remember looking that beastly (even when he transforms). I thought he was hairless in bat mode.

He had hair.
