The "GGs" Thread! (AKA The Enormous Matchmaking and Rational Beef Resolution Thread)

I know who he is (e.g., a famous basketball player), I just couldn’t tell you what team he is/was on.

Anyone up for a set? =D

Me! Pick me!

Hahah =D gimme 5 mins and I’ll invite, ok?

GG, @Skryba. Being the 1st player I’ve fought from these forums for well over a week, being unprepared is, well, an understatement. I’ve fought Mira players before (and done reasonably well), and I can handle her mobility as well as her bats, but those frametraps you had me in? That’s a whole other story. It didn’t help that I need to relearn her ADs and manuals to be able to counter them effectively (I was locked out entirely too much). Also, I worry about my blocking - it didn’t always block when I wanted it to (and it’s not because of her mid-combo overheads and lows either - I’m keenly aware of those). Seeing you with no life and needing only 1 hit to kill you only to not get it time and time again as you would regain your health back really started to get under my skin. To be honest, I don’t know if the power surge I suffered that cut us short was a curse or a blessing. Still, I’m not giving up yet! If you want to have another go once the storm passes later tonight, I’ll be all for it.

GGs, man

You have a good Aganos, from what I could tell, your issue here was with the matchup knowledge. You were far too eager to press buttons, you need to respect Mira once she forces you to block. IMO it’s a pretty tough MU for Aganos.

As for the questions you were asking, heavy trephine (the move I used to frametrap you most of the times) is +3 on block, which means your only real option out of there for free is a fully invulnerable move. Other than that, you have to guess between blocking or jumping away. If you try to jump away, you’ll evade throw or command grab (which I will probably go for once you see a lot fo silver life piling up); if you block you’re safe from s.LP > heavy trephine. If you try to jump you will get caught by s.LP > heavy trephine, and if you try to poke me or put out any button that doesn’t have invulnerability you’ll get caught by both s.LP > heavy trephine as well as throw/command grab, so this is definitely the option you don’t wanna go for.

In Aganos’ case, if you have chunks, you can obviously throw me and you’ll either tech my throw or absorb my s.LP and throw me out of it, you’ll only get caught by the command grab. But I won’t try to frametrap you if you have chunks, though, but it is a good thing to keep in mind in case anyone tries to do it.

As for the overheads and lows, as you probably noticed, I rarely ever use them. I find them to be too much of a gamble in neutral, don’t wanna give up my turn to move for a 50/50 that with my luck will get blocked 80% of the times xD and it’s also highly shadow counterable. I’ll only go for them as a meaty or spaced so that the first hit doesn’t connect, only the actual overhead/low part, and once I have meter to cancel into shadow bats to maintain priority/confirm into a combo.

You were getting opened up by regular pokes and frame traps, not really the overheads (One of the few overheads I did use was when I dropped my ender after a counter breaker, in one of the first matches x’D that was supposed to be the ender, but didn’t register, had to execute a 2nd time and was too late ^^’).

Anyway, of course we can have another go, dunno if I’ll be on much later tonigh (it’s already midnight here in Portugal), but lemme know whenever you see me online and wanna play a set

Oh, and one last note, very important, you really, really shouldn’t early guess break against Mira. At all. If you don’t guess break, I’ll stick to trephine linkers and cut the combo short into a juggle ender or wall bounce, I’ll take something like 20% of your life and try for a setup. If you do guess break early, and guess wrong, you’ll lose 50%+ of your life in a single combo and be forced into a meaty situation afterwards anyway.

GGs.

Oh, and GGs to @lHagenl as well, nice to have run into your notamummy in random ranked x3

Mira is so annoying to fight against. No point in setting up anything because she doesn’t give a damn. Myst form all day.
I need a longer set to develope some counter stragedies.

GGs mate

I’d love to learn the MU as well, since I really don’t know it all that well.

Add me and hit me up if you want a longer set, I’ll be more than happy to play you! =)

Ugh…yeah, that fight seems like it would suck. Mira gives no eff’s about oki of any kind

Sets anyone?

I’d go for a set, invite?

Inv should be sent!

GGs - Its official, I hate Gargos more than any other character in this game, by a large margin, lol.

Hahah well my gargos is a really bad example, I was just throwing stuff out, 1st time I tried him out of the lab. So I was probably much more annoying than usual! xD

GGs, man, keep at it! =)

Yeah Im having a tough time against him too (With Omen and Fulgore) If im not being trapped by the pu$$y punch of doom, im getting hit from the sky off rebound or grabbed. Put the minions out there and its insanely difficult to decipher which of the 2 attack types are coming.

Owell… it is what it is…just gotta practice

@Skryba, I know. I was being sarcastic, it was really a good move. Surprised I haven’t actually seen it used more often, that window must be super tight, but you would think that the pros that main Thunder would be able to do that pretty consistently.

It’s actually not really that hard, but it’s more situational for thunder since he needs to have instinct or charge a dash.

Mira can do much better at depriving TJ of his comebacks, with her mist form ^^ Glacius can do some similar stuff with puddle, and Omen too with his shadow form. Not sure if there are more.

Honestly, when I saw your post I thought you might have not watched the video and assumed it was about that Tusk bug with skewer, that actually didn’t allow TJ to come back at all xD Phailure @ detecting sarcasm ^^’’’

Okay, so while waiting for a 2.5+ min. World of Tanks clip to upload on XBL (which takes my connection a long time - almost an hour or so), I decided to pass the time by going to see what recorded on my TV’s DVR. When I turned on the TV, lo-and-behold, what was on TV?

The Golden State Warriors vs. The Cleveland Cavaliers.

I sat there and was like “no way! So, this is what they were talking about on the forums…” So, I resigned myself to watch what I quickly discovered was the last 40 seconds of the 4th and final quarter of the basketball match. I couldn’t help but go “OMG!” as I watched the Cavaliers score over and over again only to foul time and again immediately after they’d score and watch the Warriors, who already had a good lead, get an even bigger one with their free throws - this happened like 4 or 5x in those last 40 seconds! I couldn’t believe it! I was LMAO at the poor faces of the Cavalier fans as they all stared despondently at their own players with no hope of winning whatsoever - their team was dead to them.

Oh, that was so much fun to watch - I had to wipe a tear from my eye after seeing that and laughing so hard. Thanks for that, guys - it was a wonderful heads up. :joy:

I watched pretty much the whole game. Missed the first 6 mins of the 1st quarter, but for once, it was a good game and not a total blow out. Game was over only in the last 3 mins of the game as opposed to the middle of the 3rd quarter. This series is no Over, I am sure it will wrap up Monday, then that will mean I can focus more on KI , SFV, and getting my quals done for work.

If anyone of Qualifier to Bronze tier is looking for some games, I’m watching @TheRagingMick stream a Qualifier - Bronze lobby right now, and he’s looking for some more players. The people in the lobby are new, so he has the lobby restricted.
