When your given the opportunity to have one of Microsoft biggest IP in your game and have a trailer and teaser showed at a giant official tournament for your game you bet your buns you are going to have to give him a stage whether you want to or not…
I agree, it screams marketing. Added to the facts that The Arbiter tease was also aired at a Halo event and the trailer was on the official Halo channel. They’re trying to pull the Halo players in, a great move IMO, trying to get FPS players to try a fighting game.
opportunity? you are going to have to give him a stage? Only 2 stages for KI characters…
Microsoft CEO and the president stares at you with K.I check with money in their hands “Whether you want to or not…-_-…”
Lol I’m sure it didn’t go down like that but real talk IG can see the pro and cons from behind the scenes and it was obvious there are more to gain from this than lose
Sangheili have always been described and shown as having a lot of agility and finesse in addition to their strength.
Personally, I’m very excited. Can’t wait to get my hands on him.
That trailer had me a little watery eyed to be honest. I grew up on Halo, it’s been with me every step of the way through my life and now it’s with me again when I play competitive KI. There were some feels to be felt…
I noticed the Plasma Grenade caused a stagger and seems to behave in a similar fashion as Cinder’s Pyro Bombs hmmm. Looking forward to the live stream.

Firstly his sword, well everytime I see a sword character they tend to swipe it or stab it. You expected him to be brutish? Well if that was their goal then maybe they should’ve put a Brute into the game, like Tartarus. A species who’s name is clearly indicative of their behavior in combat. The Arbiter is an Elite, and he uses all the same tools and fights the same way they do.
[/quote]By brutish, I meant a more in-your face style, not outright crazy - think military training where they disarm you, break bones, bullrush you and put you down. It’s what I’ve seen the Arbiters do in a lot of their cutscenes - they’re fearsome warriors, but far from graceful. That being said, this, to me, doesn’t look like they use brute force or finesse - he actually looks like he’s rather untrained. I have a 12-year old niece who can swing a sword better than that Arbiter can (she takes fencing lessons) - and you’re supposed to tell me that this Sanghielli has fought in numerous battles, demands the respect of the Covenant forces, AND took on the Flood? Please… I don’t buy it. To me, his only saving grace, animation-wise, was where he stabs Chief Thunder in the back and steps on his toes - that’s brutish AND dirty.
I personally could care less about the position; I wanted THE character, as he’s the 1 with the most personality.
That being said, having different versions of the Arbiter does give a good set of costumes/accessories to use - just not the ones I cared about. I like the idea of having outfits that represented other lesser elites, such as Thel before he became the Arbiter, That Elite with the missing jaw, the Elite honor guard, the heretic, etc.
As for Freddy, a lot of people were upset that it wasn’t the original iconic Freddy in MK (since it was the 1 from the newer film instead).
No complaints from me in regards to his moves, style stage etc. I mean it’s the Arbiter they were never really going to mess up.
ONLY thing I disliked was the stage theme, again I found it to be terribly generic rock/metal. I know others will certainly disagree with me but I’m finding this new soundtrack to be nowhere near the unique vibes we got from Mick.
Arbiters are literal warrior aliens I don’t expect their fighting style with a sword to resemble anything like the myriad of human style there are out there. What may seem like untrained kids swinging wildly to them and their way of fighting are quick, simple powerful swings/thrust aimed at overpowering and incapacitating someone efficiently then moving on.
This is definitely not Iado, akido or fencing, from what we see there are no hitting with the pommel or a mix of underhand/overhand strikeslike Jago, nor are there pokes that spinal like to do. Which is fine considering in halo melee plasma swords are usually one hit kill weapons
Good response - that, I think, I can accept. I just had a discussion with @RGLOfficial about this and he seems to think that it’s to mimic the simple thrusts and attacks you see in the Halo games, which makes sense, but to me at least is rather unfortunate, because it’s a shooter franchise, so not much is given towards the animation of melee attacks (1 or 2 per weapon; 3 pr 4 maybe with the sword itself).
It sounds way too like mick though… I want something new.
To many rocking music in this Ki. First thunder & fulgore, I let it slide with kan-ra but then we got omen, aganos, hisako, cinder.
If the main outfit is Thel’s, the voice (eventhough not the same VA) is similar to Thel. Then to me he Is Thel when I play him…there is probably no story aspect to this character, so if he looks and talks like Thel, we have Thel.
And if we change outfits we might play as other Arbiters, like TJ changes into Blade ![]()
…the feeling when your actually happy about the number of rock music in KI…o–o
I mean I LOVE rock…I Hate to say this But:
When Mick’s hisako theme came up, I was Like:
#MORE ROCK
Then cinder came along and I was ok that’s enough rock/metal.
Rash is fine tho. Then Kim wu and now arbiter.
I’m just looking for some more orchestral which apparently atlas plug is all about, we shall see…
Did you say more ROCK? I like the sound of that! ![]()
I Like the rock music though…
I really think we will get that teaser today. Wish they would hurry up and post where it will come from ![]()
Lmao aight I feel you. It’s true hisako song could have been something more creepy oriental. Like some sort of Japanese sabrewolf song(which I’m surprised didn’t get a rock song about the Hunt)
I like it - but think removing panels 6 and 8 would make it funnier. ![]()
