Eyedol Thoughts

Ryedol v. Lyedol wouldn’t mess up the system mechanically, as each would still be on one side of the other at all times but, depending on how each is designed, it could make the matchup uneven if the grappler side can be shut down by the zoning side. Wouldn’t that be a trip - Eyedol is the best counter pick for himself, but only if he’s on a certain side!

One poisons you with Ergot, the other corrodes your flesh.

Ryedol and Lyedol? I’m confused

Ha! This is great.

It’s the lingo I initially used to describe the two distinctive movesets my theoretical version of Eyedol would have. Each set is dictated by the direction Eyedol is facing, so “Ryedol” is when he faces to the right and “Lyedol” is when he faces to the left. It was the easiest way I could think to describe what I was trying to convey.

OHHH I thought his two heads actually had names xD I thought I was so behind

That’s an interesting concept. I’d love to see some combos involving changing stances mid combo, maybe have a grab that changes side mid combo, like thunder’s?

I had an interesting idea about Eyedol story-wise, what if Eyedol was the damned soul of the Babylonian King? Heres my story

When the King, Aya-Dol, issued his final order to Aganos, the golem set out on his quest to seek the sorcerer Kan-Ra, but unbeknownst to both of them, Kan-Ra was hidden, and listening, in one fell swoop, Kan-Ra subdued the King when Aganos had left, but instead of killing him, Kan-Ra felt that death was too quick and not a satisfying enough revenge, instead the sorcerer cursed the king, the curse locked magical wristguards onto the king, forever binding his soul with the Underworld, so when the kings death came, his soul would face eternal torment.

In the flesh filled pits of the Underworld, King Aya-Dol awoke as a horrible monster, a demonic creature known as a Scimitaur, his mind split into two heads, one brutish and impulsive, the other cunning and decieving, what sounds more like a benefit for this former king, was instead torture, formerly a human, Aya-Dol could not properly comprehend the ability of manifesting two minds at once, it caused him intense pain, and his thought process became more simple minded and at times almost made him primitive…he could no longer pronounce his own name properly, instead going by “Eyedol”…as time passed, Eyedol found a way to ease some of his pain, he forged a large Club from the brimstone of this Hell he now called home, and used this weapon to inflict a moment of self harm by knocking one of his heads unconcious, so only one mind needed to be maintained at a time…

After 3000 years, Eyedol was no longer the compassionate Babylonian King, instead he was brutal, sour, and hellbent on destruction, set out to remake the mortal world into a primitive barbaric wasteland, he learned to channel his demonic power to fuse his two heads and two minds into one for short periods of time, using the best of both of his minds to create a barbaric army and took over the Underworld…a few more centuries passed, as Eyedol rests in his throne room, a strange rift opens before him, beyond it he sees Earth…without hesitation he enters the portal, and finds himself in the arctic wastes, Sadira is unconscious on the ground and as Eyedol looks back, he sees the portal is closed, and before he could think he was quickly apprehended by several Fulgore Units and brought to Ultratech, where he was confronted by ARIA.

She saw Eyedol as the perfect weapon to use against Gargos, and implanted a device on him, should he disobey ARIA, the device would create a rift and send him back to his “home”, seeing that he had no choice, he agreed, she kept Eyedol locked away in Ultratechs facilities until Gargos’ arrival, but then, something even ARIA did not expect, the portals Gargos had created knocked Ultratech and several other buildings off the power grid, giving Eyedol the brief chance to escape and destroy the device implanted in him, now he obeys no one, and instead intends to meet Gargos on the field of battle, and take the world for himself.

Thoughts? The idea of his heads fusing was an idea i had for his instinct, where his gameplay would be different depending on which head was in control of his body.

Love the thought put into your story.

That’s pretty interesting - a lot of thoughts put in. Someone else also had the same idea of having the Babylonian King becoming Eyedol too! Must be a popular concept!

I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve always thought video games dont use intelligent 2 headed beasts well. I look @ D&D for how they do it. Creatures such as the Demonlord/god Demogorgon (2 heads, each with its own personality), is able to do double the amount of actions each round. So cast multiple spells, use multiple psionics, use double the # of attacks, etc.

What if this was translated into a fighting game. Here me out:

From my crappy understanding in fighting games (not just KI), most moves can’t be cancelled into other moves. Fulgore has the ability via energy for special moves and there are some other expections.

Imagine if this theoretical new KI Eyedol, could cancel any normal attacks or auto doubles? Example.

Light punch is a jab with left arm. Medium is a quick swing with huge mace via right hand. Heavy punch = 2 handed swing with the mace that sends opponent into the air and is an antiair.

Now, what if after you hit, lets say Medium, before the animation is complete, you can hit light (or vice versa) and you will get another hit as Eyedol swings his other arm around.

From an animation POV it will be brutal as they would need to make sure every limb, almost, can be animated regardless of body pose. Only moves where both limbs are used up (Heavy punch in my above example) wouldn’t support this.

Another option could be the kick buttons are left side, punch is right and again, you could use both in succession.

For auto doubles, it could mean double autodoubles but can be broken with either strength.

Not sure; just a thought. Definitely be different than other fighting game characters ( i think).

Sanjay
