I don’t think you can actually open ppl up with lights as mage eyedol, though. Or can he combo any of his mage specials from a light?
NOT TJ. Surprise surprise.
I seriously doubt eyedol will survive a patch with just jump fierce getting nerfed. Right now he’s close to being an autopilot character, if you take that away he’ll merely be far and away the strongest character in the game.
Can someone get @TheKeits to unblock me on twitter so I can read about the nerfs/buffs?
Why did you get blocked in the first place?
No idea. I’ve never even contacted him on twitter. Just one day out of the blue went to his page and saw that I was blocked.
Hmmmmmmmm
I’m about to block you too. Reached out to you a couple of times on Live about sets, added you. No response. Lol.
Where? On twitter? What’s your gamertag?
He can cancel into stomp or lightning for an opener. The latter may be harder to do since you have to manual off of it, but they both serve as linkers once you get going (and most people don’t even use the latter as an ender even though it is his battery ender).
Is it true that eyedol has an easy time against aganos?
I don’t have a problem fighting him with the golem, personally.
Let me fight your Eyedol and I’ll show you what a real golem can do to him.
Can’t you just look up his shadow
I know he can cancel, obviously, but I had no idea his lights had enough hitstun to combo into mage specials, which are kinda slow on startup…
I find it pretty odd, actually, but can’t really check it right now, so I’ll take your word for it!
Low lightning has a 22f startup. You also can’t combo his lightning attacks off his lights or anything actually without shadow moves.
I just double-checked it myself and the results are actually kind of iffy. For example, if I use c.LK with a l.stomp follow-up, the AI immediately blocks it, but this doesn’t happen when I use the m. or h.stomp…
The bolt connecting has more to do with the high low mixup I think rather than the hit-stun. I can hit with the low bolt after a s. or c.LP, but it doesn’t work if I set the AI to block low. If I use m.bolt, it always hits as long as the initial LP or LK gets through, so that would ideally be your go-to option.
Triple checked it myself, and no disrespect, but the results aren’t at all iffy if you mind the combo counter. The dummy, when set to auto-block, will only wait so long before it ceases to block in between moves that do not combo, so sometimes buttons cancelled into specials will both hit the dummy, but not combo, because the gap in between the two moves is so great that the dummy stops blocking before the second goes active.
After testing all light buttons cancelled into all specials, all light buttons WILL combo into EX Bolt and EX Stomp. Meterless, st.LK combos into any Stomp, nothing combos into any Bolt (st.LP, cr.LP, and cr.LK combo into nothing without meter).
DISCLOSURE EDIT: I did not test counterhits.
TL;DR
COMBOABILITY FROM LIGHTS:
st.LKx(any)Stomp
(any light)xEX Bolt/EX Stomp
While I understand it may not be safe to do and entirely blockable, I don’t understand how you can not call a light attack into a bolt attack a combo if the opponent fails to block the follow-up bolt and the KV meter is going in full force. That, to me, is a successful (albeit dangerous to do) combo. Will it suceed automatically like some combos? Because they can block, no, but if it hits, it’s still a combo. It still makes for a decent mixup option too, because your opponent may assume that you’re going to do something safer and accidentally forego the block in the process, giving you a reset that’s not really a reset simply because you trained him into not blocking beforehand.
