What are your favourite fighting games ever and what 10 stand out the most (if you played more than 10)
Mine are
10. Marvel VS Capcom 2 (Fun but 3 looks better even though I do not have it)
9. Soul Calibur 2 (First fighting game I properly played and is very enjoyable)
8. Killer Instinct Classic 1 (Very fun with a great roster, but I hate Eyedol)
7. Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Very fun I love dramatic battle and M.bison is the best and most epic boss fight)
6. Mortal Kombat X ( Disliked the story but the gameplay was fantastic and guest characters were awesome, the main roster is Ok but not fond of the descendent characters A.K.A Cassie, Jacqui, Jin etc)
5. Killer Instinct season 1 (Very fun, Basic story great roster and animations)
4. Ultra street fighter 4 (Very fun, decent roster and a good story)
3. Mortal Kombat 9 (Really fun with a great story mode and great roster)
2. Street Fighter 3 Third Strike (Amazing but very hard for me at least also I hate Gill)
Capcom VS SNK 2 (Just perfect with its Ratio System, Roster, Music, Sprites, Stagesā¦everything is great!!)
Honourable mentions: Capcom VS SNK (Hated the ratio system in the game but it was still fun) Super Smash Bros Melee (just because I would not consider it a true āFighting gameā) Killer Instinct Classic 2 (Its fun but I donāt play it much and KI1 was better)
Even though I love the Darkstalkers series, I never got into the gameplay. For me this game was the originator of crazy special moves (but I could be wrong=) . fun to watch, though.
Itās always tough to say something was the āfirstā because someone will dig up a Pong variant that has a super meter, but I think itās pretty safe to say that DarkStalkers took the meter mechanics that were roughly tacked on to Super SF 2 and fully implemented them as part of a fully fleshed out game. It also included some wild specials and what was, for the time, really sophisticated animation.
Marvel vs capcom 2
x men Next dimenson
Soul calibur 3
Guilty gear
King of fighters
BlazBlue
Evil Zone
Dead or alive
Street fighter v
Mortal Kombat
Capcom vs SnK
Killer instinct 2
These are always so difficult because itās really tough to compare modern and historical games. Sort of like arguing about whether the 75 Dolphins at better than the 2010 Patriotsā¦
Anyway, hereās my best attempt:
1: SF 2
2: KI 2013
2: Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)
3: MK 2
4: KI 1
The rest (in no particular order)
SF 3
SC 2
MK 3/UMK 3
KI 2/Gold
Ultimate DoA2 (first good online fighter)
SF 4
MK 9
The Top 3
1 : Killer Instinct (1 and 3), Mortal Kombat (II, 9, and X) and Primal Rage (they are Equal to me)
Primal Rage was the first game I discovered my older brother and even Red playing on the genesis. IT was around the time when Dinosaurs was the highlight of my mind.)
KI (I saw this unique cast of characters and low, I discovered Riptorā¦good to have you back KI)
MK (older bro introduced it to me, I got hooked on it, and MKX is amazing)
The rest in No particular Order
2: Soul Calibur 3 and 4 (SCI may have been my first but III and IV made the most impression on me)
3: King of the Monsters (First Kaiju based fighting game Iāve ever played. the original was hard as hell but I remember playing with Red everyday of the summer on the SNES on King of the monsters 2)
4:Godzilla save the Earth (I remember my dad coming in and watching me play MK Deception then he showed me this game. I played for a little while and when Jeff woke up he thought he was dreaming)
5:Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse (My dream DB know Z game has come almost completely true. I can make a Friezsa race character, all of my favorite DBZ characters have returned and Eis Shenron baby, now if only me and Red could play on the same xbox. Still this was the best Dragon Ball Game)
6: Super Smash Bros (Wii U) (friends, theyknow just how to make us have all the joy in the world when playing)
7: Skull Girls (It was Intresting)
8: Street Fighter (was a fan of it back in the day, Iād give street fighter V a chance if it wasnāt for the exclusivity on the PC and PS4)
9: Eternal Champions (great music, unique story, decent gameplay)
10: Darkstalkers (Such roster diversity, itās close to being on par with KI)
Here are my top 10 favorite fighting games of all time. Now, this doesnāt necessarily reflect my opinion on the quality of each game. These are just the games I had the most fun playing over the years.
Mortal Kombat II (Genesis)
Mortal Kombat 3/Ultimate MK3/MK Trilogy (Genesis)
Eternal Champions (Genesis)
Killer Instinct (SNES)
Killer Instinct Gold (N64)
Clayfighter 63 1/3 (N64)
Thrill Kill (PSX)
Primal Rage (PSX)
Mortal Kombat Gold (Dreamcast)
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (PS2)
As you can see, I prefer fighting games where you can finish off your opponent. Other fighting games Iāve enjoyed over the years:
