Tournament News. IG/MS please!

Please be current with this information. I’ve stressed this before but a simple way to support the tournament scene and subsequently the game is to stay current on tournament news. If I’m just being blind please feel free to delete this post, but we just had a KI Procup tourny this last weekend and I don’t see the results post anywhere on these forums.

I know it seems like thankless work but I promise you there’s interest in it and it helps promote those tournaments as well. if you look at some of the larger forums like TestYourMight they almost always post tournament results often with VODs to the matches linked with them. The results postings are almost instantaneous in the majority of cases.

Obviously this is just my opinion but it’s disheartening to me that I have to search elsewhere to find tournament results pertaining to KI.

I actually strongly agree with this.

I concur. In fact they announced 100k Ultra Tour a while back but we haven’t heard anything about it since then…like where any of the money is going for starters. I think these types of things are really important. Like SCR was huge for KI and was a World Cup Qualifier and would of been nice if some of those funds were used to support it.

Yeah I agree. I feel like results posts (maybe even with match logs, like Eventhubs does) is not too difficult, and a link to the VOD or the Youtube would be super helpful.

Basically, I feel like tons of the 8bitbeatdown and Pro League videos are just lost in twitch archives that disappear or get deleted and are never saved. I bet it would take me a pretty long time to find a VOD of the KIPL event that happened even just a month ago, if it exists at all anymore.

Not looking for too much here, just a one-click “export to youtube” + a top 16 placing list once every two weeks… it seems like the minimum we should expect, right?

Yeah this would really be nice

This is something I’d really like them to do. Most of the KIPL archives have been straight up deleted from the KI Twitch, and that’s just really frustrating to me. Literally cannot find almost any of my tournament match footage, because every KIPL I’ve entered is now gone from the page.

One of those is on me, but it’s crazy to me that almost every single S3 online tournament (where let’s be honest, a lot of the KI action is) has been removed, with nary a backup to be found. It’s a tremendous waste IMO, and honestly makes me wish Zombie was still just streaming them from his own personal account. I liked watching old archives sometimes on a second screen when I was doing some low-concentration task, and it sucks that I can’t do that for hardly any recent online events. :slight_frown:

Pssst… hey… HEY…
There are uploads on Youtube of some of them, but not by KI or 8Bit… so keep it on the down-low, y’know?
Ahem ahem… move along, nothing to see here…

At the very least are the Challonge logs for the 8BBD/KIPL still up? If anything, those could be used as a basis for making threads with Top8/16 results.

Sure but I’d like to know which characters are involved in what not. I find that I’m usually looking at @TheKeits tweets to figure out what the results were and which characters were used. And he posts more as a fan with excitement than anything comprehensive.

I know Dayton won with Tusk this last weekend which is really awesome to hear, but I don’t know much outside of that who he beat, which characters they used etc. And honestly I think I certainly could find the information I want with some digging, but I’ve seen other communities make that process much more simple.

I’d actually volunteer to make threads dedicated to tournament results. I’d highlight the placings and event structure. The only drawback is that they wouldn’t get the website front page view for anyone viewing the site.

This is a really big problem with the forums and the pro league. The KI world cup rankings aren’t even up to date so potential competitors can see how many points they have and what events they need to go to do they can catch up.
