Pad users get in here

Has there been any discussion on this forum about the right analog stick? The only option i see for it is that it can be disabled. It would be nice if it could be mapped like the rest of the controller. Say your rb goes bad but you cant repair it or get to the store for another pad, it sure would be nice to designate a direction on the right stick to replace your broken key. Any other pad discussion is welcome.

Good suggestion. I think it would be nice to give players the option to remap the right analog stick although admittedly, I never use it.

I don’t see why not. More button mapping is always welcomed in any video game especially a fighting game. I’m for it.

The X1 has a native controller reconfiguration app, although I am not sure if it lets you remap the analogs or not.

The app is designed for the Xbox One Elite controller. While you get a LOT of options you can’t map the right analog stick.

Honestly though the Elite has 4 extra buttons that can make your life easier. An Elite makes handling Glacius multi-hail simple… Just as an example.

And yet, ironically, my Elite controller was the ONLY 1 to get a faulty right bumper. I’d welcome such an in-game feature (and no, I’m not willing to use the Xbox controller app to remap to 1 of the other 4 additional buttons - getting used to that will take too darn long, and I’m not going to suffer in the meantime). The thing is though, you’d have to be careful with certain configurations that might give someone an unfair advantage (whatever that might be). On the other hand, having complete control over your inputs will also help those who may have physical disabilities, so you’d have to strike 1 heck of a balance between the 2 or sacrifice 1 for the other.

Not entirely true. You can remap button configurations for any controller under devices and right/left stick click is mappable.

I’ve brought this up before, but I doubt they would implement this. They had to give PC players an ability to have an easier access right thumbstick macro at the start of S3. I don’t think they would want to upset the balance between the two peripherals. I think the pad has the potential to be much better with a mappable thumbstick. It’s actually a much larger advantage than one might think. Being able to just flick your thumb to the side slightly of where it’s positioned for lights/throws is huge, whereas now you have to somewhat methodically make sure you go downwards. I still get strength lockouts all the time when trying to use the stick, personally. The breaker and throw tech game becomes so much smoother with a mappable thumbstick. So while I would personally love it, I don’t see it happening out of respect for the stick purchasers.

I’ve got to grab a fightstick because this game is too hard on the oem controllers. Well, i guess I’m the culprit who breaks them. At least the fixes are relatively inexpensive. Might be a nice feature for those that would like to dedicate their left hand to the pad without having to lb or lt for 3p/3k.

I’m using an Elite controller at the moment. Have been a pad player for a while and didn’t really want to have to put the training wheels back on again and relearn how to play this game with a stick.

The only thing I really use the right analog stick for is counter breakers and instinct activation. I just find it easier to use that way. But being able to map the button layout for the right analog stick would be a good feature.

Did you get your RB fixed? Mine broke as well but was still under the 90 day warrantee so they were able to replace it for free.

Sadly no, this was past the 90 days. :frowning:

Shoot! Sorry to hear that.

Yeah, I’ve been trying to get up the courage to ask some controller modding guys/company to fix it for me by replacing the parts, because my brother did it with some standard controllers a while back and saved some money in the process (and the controllers came back better than new), but I haven’t built up the courage yet to do it again and part ways with my controller by giving it to someone that I don’t know or entirely trust.

My RB broke recently too (during an Aganos mirror match no less) and I can’t play KI in the meantime. I bought the replacement bumpers on Amazon for $10 (with shipping). It’s a lot cheaper than buying a new controller and pretty easy to fix. You just need the right screwdriver (T8 I think).

While I’m swapping out parts, I’m going to replace the front shell and back handle covers for cosmetic issues. I’ve recently replaced the D pad and thankfully it works perfectly.

Sure would be nice if we could map the analog stick to fix your button temporarily. That way we could at least play.

This exact thread came to mind after it broke. While not ideal, I could temporarily live with flicking the right stick to activate HP.

I also had an elite rb break, as well as the one before that having an audio defect. Won’t recommend the elite to anyone until the quality control issues are fixed and even then I probably won’t recommend it. Just my opinion based on personal experience.

I’m with you on that. If this one I have breaks there is no way I’m buying another. Having a button break on an “Elite” controller is not acceptable especially when my RB broke only after a MONTH OF USE!!

After hearing about others with the same issue, it makes me wonder if there was a “bad batch” or issue with these controllers as they were manufactured…
