Made it to him with all 3 of my dudes intact, and all his buffs removed… and I got wrecked.

What difficulty?
The middle one… Above normal.
Challenge it is then…
I find Gargos to be very different one fight to the other, and I believe a lot of that rests on which buffs he has.
But sometimes he just seems to have an off day or the opposite, maybe they arent done fully programming him yet…
He basically has unlimited minions, which makes him extremely hard… They just keep coming.

I defeated him on challenge with my Jago… Without dead… To be honestly, it’s easy to me. 0_0
What items are you using to beat him?
Guardian - Vampire bat
Consumable - Unblockable
I don’t have the bat.
I got to him with all three of my guys. My first guy Riptor got him down to 6% health before she fell. My other two guys aganos and Jago got smashed. This was on my initial play through. My down fall was I became too confident after I lost Riptor, I though 6%? I can definitely do that, and got smashed. It was like playing happy wheels. WTF? I’m dead? I had full health two seconds ago.

If thats the case than they succeed. I wanted a challenge.
Gargos does like grabbing people… makes sense.

Just finished my 1st playthrough in SL and I gotta say, no other cheap FG boss character can even hold a candle to this guy! He had 5 buffs on challenging difficulty when I got there (I only managed to rid him of 1 prior) with all 3 of my guys - all with full instinct, shadow, and health, each with a guardian and maxed out artifacts (Aganos, Thunder, and Maya).
I didn’t even last 60 seconds…
“All hail our supreme leader, ruler of everyone and everything, the 1 and only Shadow Lord, Gargos!”

Someone clearly rejected UT’s help.
I started getting these “emergency missions” that, if not completed, would drastically spread his influence - so I did those. However, they kept me from doing the Gargos missions, and the influence spread anyways, and he came at me with nearly everything. 
You were clearly bowing to the herald of gargos.
