Sonic Mania and Sonic Project 2017 are going to be Sonic’s next big titles and they look very promising. So, to celebrate, we’re going to have a poll on which Sonic game in the main series of video games has the best soundtrack.
I gotta with SA2 on this one. Crush 40 did an awesome job on the soundtrack. I can’t hardly see Eggman (Robotnik) without immediately hearing his theme in my head.
…BTW you also left off the Sonic Advance games. I mean, the soundtracks there weren’t that remarkable, but still they at least need to be on the ballot so you can say “No, this other one is better”
Judging from the style switch between some songs on there I could have swore they did more…not a whole lot more, but at least Live & Learn, City Escape & E.G.G.M.A.N.
I picked SA2 because of Jun senoue, and his signature sound on the stage music. On top of that, the chao music is the icing on the cake.
I was sad I couldn’t pick other games because I like songs from just about all of them. Mainly the Crush 40 songs. I COULDN’T live without “Sonic Heroes Theme”, “Free (Sonic Riders)”, “I Am All Of Me”, and I’m even enjoying songs from games I haven’t played such as the “Black Knight”, and “SA1”.
@RGLOfficial Do you play sonic games? I think you told me you liked a track or 2 from one of these games.
I tried once to figure out what they were actually singing, and from what I understand (Don’t quote me on this, I may be waaaaaay off) it’s pretty much gibberish.
The fact that i could follow along and almost recite those songs, despite never actually listening to them consistently, is a very scary indicator of how much i played this game when i was little.
I never did get all the emblems, so im actually doing that right now! This time, im using some minor glitches in the chao garden. I’ve raised plenty of Chao for hundreds of hours in my lifetime without glitches, i think i deserve to use a glitch or two by now!
I was trying to think about some memorable songs from Sonic 06, and i couldnt remember any. But while listening to some other songs i found “Dreams of an Absolution” again. I remember not liking it, but now that i’ve listened to it a couple more times, i really like it!
I still REALLY dont like the mixing in this song. From a music production standpoint, auto-tune is awful to listen to, and the song doesnt drive hard enough to be a decent trance song.
However… If anyone happens to have control over the audio mixing with their computer (via Audio interface, or internal audio mixing such as Beats Audio), I really enjoy mixing the song with these EQ settings:
-H: 1.40KHz 7dB
-M: 465Hz -8.7dB
-L: 237Hz 4.6dB
