##Pirate Battle: Edward Kenway (AC) Vs. Spinal (KI)

Edward Kenway (click name for more info)

Vs.

Spinal (click name for more info)

##The Setup:

In search of a mysterious artifact known as “the Mask of Ancients,” Edward finds himself exploring an island rife with enemy soldiers. Dispatching them one after the other, Kenway makes his way across the island only to finally come upon a band of soldiers who were seemingly successful in finding the mask.

Digging it up from under a large and twisted palm tree, a old chest was uncovered…covered unfamiliar glyphs markings. They opened the chest…the mask! The leader of the soldiers took charge, and the others fell back. He grabbed it.

Upon touching the mask the sun began to recede in the clouds, and the ground began to quake. All of a sudden an ominous chantey could be heard on the wind…

The wind became brisk, and the atmosphere became heavy. From the ground a portal opened, and through it an eerie green light emerged…

Spinal, armed with his fabled living shield and ancient Babylonian sword, howled in a ghastly fashion just before reveling in the blood of the band of soldiers. Kenway seeing all this just wanted to turn and run…but he needed the Mask. Dropping from the tree tops, Kenway addresses the ghostly skeleton…

“Give me the mask you won’t be hurt,” he said in voice full of bravado and bluster.

Spinal, bones creaking and chattering, gave Kenway an inquisitive look, but simply stood his ground and howled again. Eyes burning with a bright greenish hue, the island transformed to reveal more spirits, all tending to seemingly “ordinary” tasks…all chanting the same sea chantey: Spinal…Spinal…Spinal…

“Great,” Edward said under his breath, and he braced for Spinal’s attack…

Rules:
•Edward comes armed to the teeth with his endgame gear and Mayan armor.
•Spinal is in his most current season 3 incarnation.
•Win by death or incapacitation.

##Can Kenway take down Spinal and get the mask? Or will Spinal take his life like some many others.

Idk anything about this other guy but id love to know how he plans on putting down a walking skeleton. That isn’t to say he couldn’t best him in a bout, but Spinal does have many years of experience considering he has been around since ancient times. He can also do teleport shenanigans lol

Instant teleport behind, sword slash, lop off some limbs lol

I’m at work so I can’t quote or link to some of the more detailed accounts of Kenway, but he has tons of tools at his disposal and accolades to support him. Probably the most impressive piece of kit he has is his Mayan armor which allows him to take above human damage, and makes him completely immune to gunfire and what not.

Pretty much. Spinal isn’t bullet proof. He may be immortal, but can be incapacitated. Not only is Kenway a crack shot, but he is also a master swords man who uses dual blades, and is also a master privateer (he has seen and done a lot of what Spinal has done on the high seas).

He is a descendant of the precursor race, and by lineage he has “the Eagle sense.” He can sense heart beats and emotional intentions, smell odors like a blood hound, and has superhuman reactions and peak human stats. Kenway can no doubt hang with KI crew in terms of skill, I just wonder if he as Pirate Assassin can take an undead Pirate of the Caribbean.

Spinal, that’s a no brainer. The skeleton can sap his strength with curses and the mask can devour. I think you need to bump up spinal’s opponent’s.

Inactually doubt it. Guns won’t do much. Spinal can absorb bullets with his shield most likely. Spinal can teleport. Shoot skulls that bounce everywhere. Etc.

How does Spinal even lose?

In general Spinal doesn’t absorb physical hits, he absorbs energy attacks (fireballs, lasers, etc.). Bullets are high-speed physical attacks. Sure he may be able to block some of them, but he won’t be gaining anything from doing that.

Two words: Eagle Sense.

Edward has a sixth sense (have you guys played Assassin’s Creed?). He can sense intentions which helps him in battle.

This is Edwards grandson…who was also an Assassin…who also used the Eagle Sense:

Again, Edward’s armor makes him immune to gunfire, if he had been in the gun battle above…

That is sort of like asking “how can TJ Combo beat Spinal?”

Spinal isn’t invincible, he can take damage, and if he takes enough damage he will go down…for a time.

Good old ninja theory.

Anyway, spinal isn’t invincible that’s quite obvious, but what’s edward going to do? Duel him with swords? And whose to say ES actually works on spinal?

Spinal absorbs grenade explosions…which are physical attacks… just like special moves…which alot are…physical. I betcha anything that hits the shield he gains a skull lore wise.

Then there was Edwards’ murderer who supposedly was just a mere man if I remember correctly from the books. If he was superhuman he wouldn’t have been killed so easily by the man in the mask…was it a mask? I can’t remember now. Been to long.

Strange match up.

TJ beat him with fists.

I would give ES the benefit of the doubt that it would work against Spinal. There really isn’t any reason it wouldn’t. Same logic behind why Spinal’s curses would work against Edward.

Ehh…maybe, that is why I said “in general,” but a lot of what Spinal can absorb in game is due to balancing and what not. It seems to me, lore wise, that Spinal converts “shadow energy” into his own power source. There is no shadow energy coming from Edward.

Edward, like all of the Assassin’s, is human…only a little more. He doesn’t have any healing factor, or extra durable skin, but his ES allows him to push further, and do more, than what any normal man can do.

This is Ezio…another Assassin…at 50 years of age:

He died too (of old age), but there are many other Assassin’s who have died from being shot, stabbed, and what ever else. Spinal’s soul is bound to the mask (which allows him to forego death), but just the fact that he is undying doesn’t mean he can’t loose, or that he’d win.

Both TJ and Orchid have wins over Spinal, even Eagle may have beat him in his first tournament (just to name a few). Edward with all his wits, abilities, and weapons in tow should be able to hang no doubt.

I’ve got a million more where that came from. LOL!

Dig a deep hole. Lure Spinal into it. Take mask. Win.

Get on ship. Fire cannons at Spinal. Take mask. Win.

LOL! :joy:

But TJ still has some type of enhancement after getting the metal out of his arms. Plus he fights dinosaurs, robots, and guys on fire on a regular basis.

Kenway doesn’t really have the knowledge, or the experience, to be dealing with someone like Spinal. Sure he’s a pirate captain but he’s never really faced things like gods, or aliens, demons, or things like that.

In b4 Piece of Eden Shadow Move XD

Batman could beat Superman. Why Edward couldn’t beat Spinal?!

I disagree about bullets - I get your logic. However, in a videogame sense bullets are considered projectiles, not as high speed physical attacks. That and specials can be absorbed. It’s not a normal attack like a blow to the face with say, mp, lp, or hp. It would likely be a special move were Kenway to be in an FG.

Spinal can absorb specials with his shield, including Jago’s windkick and laser sword specials. He can absorb hisako’s qcf+p move… You get the idea.

Basically, as good as Kenway is, I think he’s lost this one before he even starts. Also, Eagle sense, I’d speculate, works via being able to tap into a person’s mind. With Spinal basically being driven to insanity after centuries of torment/absence of company/etc, his mind is pretty much fractured and non-existant in a form that Kenway can read intentions.

Because Edward is not Batman…
