I would like to know how to take advantage of those weaknesses. My main is Glacius, my weaknesses are the following:
I have none. I’m just kidding, here they are:
I tend to rely on a lot of pokes and throws. I believe I throw way too much during any match. Like I’ll poke once then throw. And I’ll do it several times during the match.b
I’ll always anticipate people jumping so I jump kick. I’ll even do it when I already know they won’t jump, muscle memory. It’s like a reflex already.
Sometimes I Just randomly combo break and lockout instead of looking at the auto double or I’ll break an air recapture and get counter breaked. Sometimes I need to remind myself not to combo break, especially when the guy is real good at anticipating me breaking his combo.
But out of all of these, my biggest weakness is breaking manuals or doing medium and heavy manuals. Quick manuals are easy but many good players know to break them.
For me and my main golem, it’s manuals, throws, good defense (blocking, back-dashing, neutral jumping, and counters), and low grounded heavy normal attacks.
Because as a forum we are a small group of individuals who tend to get along with each other most of the time.
We have fun playing against eachother and learning as we go. Not every one of us is so caught up in winning that they forget the sincerity of friendship. One of those elements is opening up to others and whatnot. It also allows for much needed input from fellow members which is always good.
My personal weakness is heavy aggression. I’m a fairly defensive player, but once my bubble is popped, I crack and don’t know how to reestablish myself. As for my main’s, I guess it’s the same. Rash’s only reversal is only available when he has meter, so he doesn’t exactly have access to it all the time, so heavy pressure should work against him. While I say that, you get meter pretty quick in this game, so it’s not that bad.
Another thing is I don’t know enough about this game to be confident in my movement or my gameplan in general. Even though I love this game, I hardly get to play it (work, gf, social life, smash tournaments, and a stream schedule to keep up makes it rough to practice). So when I run into something I don’t know too much about, I tend to get boo booed on.
When playing my TJ and Shago, I tend to show off too much. Instead of going for optimal damage I go for “cool” looking stuff that can cost me the match at times but hey it’s what makes playing them fun. When I play Raam I get too impatient when I’m being zoned and because of that I rush in blindly and it works half the time.
I break entirely too much - people should counter break against me more. My offense has also gotten pretty flow-charty unfortunately. I’m afraid I don’t adapt as well as I used to.
I main Glacius as well and actually I don’t think throwing too much is a huge problem for him. He gets a lot from his throw, which has great range, and sends the opponent out to a preferred range for him. So I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Yes, you can be too predictable with this and you don’t want to throw instead of getting full combo punishes. But throwing is part of Glacius’s gameplan in my view.
My weaknesses with Glacius are partly general weaknesses. Like everyon I break too often. I never flat out guess but I will often make the read without much data and not wait to confirm it. If last time he did opener light I will break lights immediately. It’s tough to sit in those things but in the long run its way better. I have greatly improved maximizing damage on lockout but I’m not as good as I could be. I also don’t counter break effectively. And I need to get better with manuals. I can usually do heavy linker into light, but mostly I don’t use them in matches.
For Glacius specifically my biggest flaw is without a doubt my basic hail tech. I don’t use this tool well at all. I don’t effectively cover my unsafe moves and I don’t have the timing down to do some of the neat advanced stuff that he really relies on at higher level. I should work on this in the lab but I probably won’t.
You should try custom combo assist, ultras only! All you do it hold forward and press either 3p or 3k to get an ultra. It’s nice because you don’t miss your ultras anymore.
